Our strategy against the Oilers hasn't worked all year and somehow it's getting worse. They are surgical in preventing any offense and they capitalize on every single mistake we make. Our strategy needs to change drastically and I don't think we're capable.

Really sad game, i defend Maurice but there is no excuse for playing that shity after getting beat up by the Leafs . Time for a change and time to play our young defense of Heinola, Samburg and Stanley and sink or swim with them.

Well that was downright embarrassing and pathetic.

The team right now has no clue what they are doing on the ice and many of our players have seemingly forgotten fundamental concepts like don't make silly drop passes to no one at the blue line or no look passes across the blue line especially with McDavid on the ice. McDavid is fantastic but we made it so easy on him by gifting him odd man rushes constantly throughout the game that left our dmen hung out to dry. Our forwards also did a horrendous job back tracking on these rushes to even things up.

This looks like a team that has no systems, no identity, and no faith in each other.

I think it was a win against Montreal that prompted me to say it felt like a loss and they could not keep playing that way and expect to win. Well that has now come to fruition. I wish it was different but this season is over.

I get a lot of Evander Kane vibes from Dubois. Big, physical, high motor, bit more playmaking, bit less of a shooting bias, but more than anything he is single minded in pushing the puck towards the net. That becomes frustrating when you know that every time he picks up a loose puck in the offensive zone he's going to funnel a blind pass to the front of the net rather than looking for an open man, and it will more often than not result in a loss of possession.

I will admit I bailed after the 1-0 goal but smells to me like this was a game wherein the team quit on the coach.

And I mean, the Jets have quit on Maurice before (most prominently in the 2019 playoffs), but for some reason, we keep bringing him back.

I've decided that I haven't been as much "pro-maurice" as I've been "anti anti-maurice".

That said, something is wrong with this team. I like Maurice as a person, but maybe it's time for him to go and another voice to give it a shot.

I'm also aware that we are down our two most impactful forwards, but it wouldn't have made a difference tonight.
