So this Matthews's 4th injury in less than one calendar year..
And with the shoulder goes the shot...
If he is out an extended period of time and you are the GM, what do you do?
Give him $10 to 12 M ?
Well in the spand of about 7 minutes the narrative for me went from sign him long term to sign him on a bridge deal. Shoulders injuries are brutal and it will effect his career

If Matthews requires surgery it might be in everyone’s best interest if he just sits out this year.

I can’t imagine Dubas will pull a miracle and make this team a contender so why not take a back seat this year and try and fill gaping holes and let AM heal.

Clearly we are too soft up front and on the back end. No bite on this team. Winnipeg played a bit physical and we folded

So then why are you rejecting the notion enforcers have no value, Kessel said publicly that having guys like Orr, McLaren and Fraser made him and other guys in the room feel more confident and protected on the ice.
I'm sure he felt like that, and I'm also sure that players are not given million dollar contracts and a roster spot to make others feel good. If there's not an effect on the ice, the feelings doesn't matter. It's well established at this point that such an effect isn't there.

Been a Leaf fan for 30 years (since I was born really) and it would be lovely to have nice things.

No, we are not owed anything, we are not special, and we do not deserve special treatment.

I just want a consistant team, maybe a cup win every 30 years, players that are happy to be here, and think team first. Plus a superstar player who can be consistantly healthy and dominant lol

Lottery pick player's career is likely over soon. Best winger on the team will leave.

At least we'll have Pisces, Tavares and hometown boy Mitch "Mono" Marner.

This team lacks a Darcy Tucker type. A guy that can play hockey but will go to war at the same time... Kadri is kinda that, but not really.

Even if Matthews comes back, with a significant shoulder injury to his shooting side we might not see the explosive Matthews we saw to start the season for a while. Sucks.

But if you don't care whether we win or lose or not. Whether we win the cup or not. Whether our franchise center got hurt after a routine body check or not. Then why watch?
Again you are putting statements into my mouth that I never said. It sucks that he got hurt right now....Outside of that why would I get upset about whether or not we will win a cup? I would have a stroke if I started freaking out about that stuff in October.

It seems like most people are having a melt down in here. Get your shit together, it's insufferable to read.
