Just hoping Matthews comes back by the playoffs at this point. But this is bad. Maybe he's just not suited for the NHL with his style of play and body. At least we have Tavares I guess.

After this post, your avatar is very fitting. Chill.

why do we act like hitting isn't apart of this game? that's how you beat our team. play physical and take away our space. teams know we can't retaliate cause we got nobody to do so.

That his was fine on Matthews. I’m bummed he’s hurt but I’m more upset that he’s probably as injury prone as all the Matthews haters were saying. That shoulder is a big problem.

The people whining about the team needing to be tougher realize that wouldn't do anything to stop Matthews shoulder from getting hurt right? Just checking.
That's not totally true. In fact it's impossible to assume that's the case.

What a slightly tougher team would do, is slightly scare the opposing team from going in front of the net, or into the corners, it forces them to keep their head up and remember whose on the ice.

I can play the assume game too. With toughness, maybe Trouba is paired to that persons line, hell, maybe they are on the ice and are mixing it up a bit so that Trouba is out of position.

Fun game.

I hope we can use Matthews' injury proneness to our advantages in contract negotiations... Its a lot easier to pay big money on players that are known to stay healthy.

so sick of this **** hottake. Tell me what the sandpaper, who wouldnt even be on the ice do about that? nothing like it or not it was interference at worst

How shortsighted of you. Trouba will gladly take runs all night long when there’s nobody to answer his actions. Even the Oilers wouldn’t let this happen. You can bet Kassian or Lucic would’ve buried someone.

I am pretty sure they are keeping Trouba on Matthews regardless of how tough anyone on the Leafs may be.

It's not a complete hottake, this is not about having goons, NO. It's about being so soft as a team that other teams don't ever have to fear of retaliation.

If you don't think having a Manson who everyone knows will answer and respond, will that solve the problem? Not complete, but it can make a difference.

The truth is there is ZERO fear from Jets to any Leafs players. I will promise you, more teams will start playing Leafs more physical/dirty.

im sorry but all these NHL players know they could be hit or hit someone at anytime no player is not hitting someone for "fear" of retribution. not a single one, if trouba had that hit lined up (a fair hit) you think he'd pull out if we had someone a bit grittier on our team? not a chance

This team is frustrating on home ice. Can’t freaking score.
People need to stop overreacting. They haven’t even announced whether Matthews will be out for the rest of the game and you guys are already concluding he’s out for months
Who are we kidding? He’s not coming back in this one. At best they’ll play it safe and he’ll be back for the next one. At worst we’re going to test our depth for a while.

What exactly do you find strange about that? You injure something once it makes it more likely to injure it again. This isn't something new.
So shoulders are "strange" and once you hurt them once, they continuously just keep getting hurt even on routine body checks.

You're really not concerned about that in regards to Matthews?
