Eh, really couldn't care. He won't be coach for long and this team will be rebuilding soon enough. Maybe he can insert some defensive effort into the group. I imagine Arniel as associate taking over in a few years.

Again, more interested in the roster configuration.

For people that are upset.. why? What specifically? He was incredibly successful in Dallas..
Who watches the Colorado Avalanche win the Cup, playing fast, high tempo hockey and doubles down on slow and heavy? Who looks at how the NHL is trending, the dynasty that is Tampa and thinks turning hockey games into 50/50 puck luck is a good idea?

It's about the direction that Chevy is leading the Jets down.

He might be the worst coach in recent history in terms of developing/trusting youth. Brenden Dillon is gonna play 23 minutes a night and Logan Stanley & Perfetti will end up in Bones' doghouse the first time they think about doing something other than dump & chase. He's so unbelievably inconsistent with how he treats younger players vs older players in terms of mistakes.

That being said, he does, somehow, get decent results, and I'd think the Jets will be in the playoff hunt next year because of having Hellebuyck back there in Bowness' system.

Overly optimistic take but maybe they are just hoping to kick the can down the road and re-engage with Trotz next offseason. Bowness is close to wanting to retire anyways.

That's what I'm hoping.

Bowness as a placeholder this season.

We play our young guys and soft tank.

Trotz comes on in 2023 as either coach or GM.

Get a high draft pick in 2023.

Playoff team in 2023-24.

Can you expand on why it’s such a bad hire?
His system is bad.
He coaches teams into a shell which results in a lot of time caved in your own zone trying to prevent goals, and a lot of icing. Makes the game hard to watch (I'd say it's a form of terrorism and i love dead puck era hockey for comparison )
If Dallas had a lead in the first minute of the game they would literally spend the next 59 trying to lock down a win, with him at the helm.
He would roll out 3rd and 4th lines who have 0 offensive ability when trailing and for 15+ minutes a night.
Dallas was somewhat successful in spite of him, not because of him

Like all coaches he plays favorites, but he literally won't hold veterans accountable at all either.

Not a big fan, would rather go with a young up and coming guy.

I guess positives are some of their youth really took off under him and the team performed well defensively.

This seems to say Chevy is a bit on the hot seat in that the only coaches we offered the position to where experienced coaches.

A terrific strategy from management. Throw out some of the worst possible coaching names out there so when an old, tired, Winnipeg connected coach is the eventual hire, it only makes you feel empty inside rather than filled with violent rage.
His team went farther than Trotz's in 2020, last year he managed to get the Stars into the playoffs, when it looked like Vegas would find a way. And the Jets couldn't. I think True North for all the shit they get, whether rightly or not, probably feel like they have someone experienced enough who can manage personalities, and get this team back to the playoffs.

I don't know why every move this team makes is a crisis...First no one picks Winnipeg first. If you are here it's because you were born here, that's your excuse. Or it was better than a war or poverty stricken country to live in. If you come back it's because you know someone here.
