Injury Report: Jets health in the playoffs

The hockey guards just do not like us. We get a player back and then we lose our best player number one center and now we have a fourth liner as our number one center which I love names but just think about that for a second. Terrible terrible news on Chef.

And ... who's 2C in Names' spot?

Last night they got some odd-man transition opportunities as the game progressed. They need more of that to make the Blues pay for the hyper-aggressive forecheck.
Everything I know about hockey is from watching it on TV. But it seemed like the Jets were making a lot of stretch passes yesterday (am I imagining this?) which would make sense in response to a hyper-aggressive forecheck.

That's usually the adjustment for Dmen activating down the walls all thr time. Definitely forces them out of the zone which also creates a layer of soft ice at the top of the circles that can be exploited for controlled exits

So yes, you're right

Even if he’s borderline.

I’d sit him. St Louis has shown a predisposition for looking to injure. That will definitely be the case in game 6.

If they can somehow win that game by all means, but game 7 is where the fruit will hopefully be harvested.

The hope is 55 can be back by then, I’m doubtful - but we shall see.

Yeah it really depends, if it's concussion related he could be 1 game away or one entire series away who knows.

Game 6 is going to get nasty one way or another, if the league and DOPS just did their f***ing jobs this wouldn't be a problem.

I don’t want to negate that I think St Louis was looking to injure, which they were - the message has been clear to target 55, and 44…

However…

Florida plays the same way. Washington has that element. The Kings cup teams were a bitch to play against for anyone, and primetime Anaheim with Pronger/Niedermayer were the same story.

You hope to avoid teams like this in the playoffs because even if you are to win, you are hobbling away. That was a similar story against Nashville years back for our own Jets.

You’re not going to necessarily beat teams like that at their own game, but Arniel has disappointed me in not ensuring Thomas/Kyrou aren’t feeling the same pain in turn. That’s something you can do, and that sends a stronger message to guys like Faksa, Schenn, or Toropchenko.

They have definitely had free rein to do as they please on our star players, and aside from the Stan hit we have done very little in return, not sure why, maybe Arnie told them not to play that game, but I agree I too am disappointed if that is indeed the case.

If the likes of Lowry etc stepped up earlier and retaliated each and every time they tried to hit our guys then maybe Scheifs would not be injured right now.

The only problem with retaliating is that every time there's a scrum, the Blues have walked away with a power play.

Yes, I think that's true. I didn't think it was particularly effective at times, as they had quite a few result in neutral ice turnovers and icing calls.

They had some success in creating turnovers or getting blocks above the circles in their D zone and creating odd-man breaks.

I think they need to be better pressuring the points and getting some blocks or turnovers and counter-attacking.

Its got to be weird to be Luke Schenn right now.

Little bro is a confirmed head hunter? Check (you knew that didn't you)
Little bro takes out your best player in your tribe? Check
Little bro gets off scott-free? Oh yes, checkaroo

It might be fecking with his head, or his normal approach.

Agree. I was wondering same thing.

If he was held out for concussion like symptoms almost zero chance he plays game 6....Not a good situation as I don't believe coach would have been so heated between periods if 55 wasn't hurt, Not just being held out as a precaution.
Having had several concussions from light to medium symtoms to ones that please don't turn on the lights,he can get cleared in a few days going symtom free and then hustle around the ice in the pre game skate and begin seeing the flash bulbs all over again.

I don't think that his hands make contact with Schief's head

But he is off the ice for sure
I can't remember the Detroit Sweeden defenceman,I'm thinking 55 but any way he would turn his back and launch himself into the opposing player, his feet always left the ice and league ruled it was from natural follow through, while others got called. The rules were also different back then

That would be Kronwall I believe. He had a penchant for throwing dirty hits.

On sportsnet after the game Luke gaz or whatever said schenn would of been suspended if he was injured, and in the same sentence said he didn't even think it was interference.really man.

Yep I remember when I couldn't even go to the grocery store, because the fluorescent lights messed with my eyes. And you just go out there and skate to find the balance again. I think there are probably some good neurologists and specialists employed by the hockey club, they have ways of treating these injuries that aren't publicly available. You do worry though, because you look how coming back and getting jolted threw Kupari back into that protocol, and that's a short career if not taken care of. Dean Chynoweth is somebody who had to retire because of concussions, I'd like to hear our media folk on here ask him about that.

I was just talking about ongoing acoustic sensitivities that I still have from two concussions within 5 months of each other in 2018
