Injury Report: Jets health in the playoffs

Arniel ain't showing his hand.. he had big grin on his face whenever Ehlers name was mentioned. Didn't really want to say much when discussing ehlers status.. just he's in yellow contact jersey tomm.. and that he's surprised he wasn't in it today
That would be amazing if it's been some gamesmanship around Ehlers's status this whole time to f*** with Montgomery.

Not getting my hopes up but if he can zip around in practice he must be close considering its a foot injury

If Ehlers is in a yellow “contact jersey” tomorrow, we just may get him back for the last game of Round 1, and very likely Round 2.

This would be HUGE in my opinion, as Ehlers is the line driver and scorer on that 2nd line. Also a big part of the power play. We don’t have a 2nd line without Ehlers.

Considering what’s happened lately, and getting nothing from our second line, we need to sign Nik.

Sign Ehlers Chevy - we need him.

I've thought all year that Ehlers made our PP what it was. We have a PP of incredible players but they like their structure and will take valuable time to try to get into that structure, then they will look for low percentage seam passes etc.

Throw Ehlers in there and he's shooting, wreaking havoc with the system, has the opposition running all over the place.

We would benefit greatly in all areas getting him back.

Happy to see him out there, slowly putting pressure on it, was not expecting that. Probably available at the start of round 2
I think if it gets to game 7, Ehlers would want to be out there, with the possibility it could be his last game as a Jet. Or the end of a series with more hockey to play. Either way I don't think he'd want his last game as Jet to be falling over a ref, and leaving the game.

I'm curious to see how hard Ehlers digs into his edges in practice today

Hopefully it'll be something that the reporters in attendance pay attention to
Not to reply to myself (lol), but I just saw some clips on IG and he didn't look like he was babying anything. I was actually surprised

If he feels good after today, I wonder if he has one full contact practice and then is good for Friday (especially if we lose tonight)

I'm thinking the same thing. I've heard it's a foot injury and if his skating isn't impacted too much then he might be good to play through it as long as he remembers to not block any shots off that particular foot

So, I keep coming back to the way that Nik left the ice, and got onto the bench. The way he wasn't favoring any leg made me sure that it was his groin (which obviously I was wrong about).

CONSPIRACY THEORY TIME: Did they tell him to do that so there wouldn't be a 'tell' as to what his injury was? I don't know, but the whole thing is really befuddling.

Anyone who thinks ehlers won't play this series is a god darn bafoon... i think max he sits out one more game.. however I think there's a decent shot he gets back in there tomorrow night if morning practice goes smoothly... the guy is eager to go and just waiting for that green light.. he was skating hard in practice and the fact he's in a yellow contact jersey tomm tells me he is just about ready to roll...

This username is suspiciously similar to that of "avgard the hockey professor" 🤨🧐 although the English is infinitely better.

I don't think it's that complicated. It could be a foot injury like a bad bone bruise that was aggravated and needed to heel. That would cause a player to be very reluctant to put weight on the foot, without the bend at the knee you often see with knee injuries.

But He wasn't putting weight on either leg.

The natural reaction to a single leg injury is to put all your weight on the opposite leg.

Pump the brakes, Jet!

There is no reason for there to be a 1 to 1 elation between what the injury is and what part of the body you are favoring. The body biomechanics are complex. A few years ago I had an injury which resulted in a herniated disc, just watching from the outside you'd think it was a right leg injury rather than a spine injury.

I think the most reasonable explanation is that Arniel was telling the truth when he said he aggravated the same injury he had a few games ago.

He was generally banged up on that collision.

I thought previous reports indicated he had a foot injury. For this one, Arniel said it was a re-aggravation. Without any other info I'm okay just taking it at face value without developing other theories without new information.

The thing about ehlers is yes he gets injured but when he's on the ice he leads by example, and he has qualities not many have.. like being able to walk around someone. I really like his ability to just make an extra little move and fire the puck, he's got great confidence. Unrelated but it reminds me of Quinn Hughes and an ability he has that is often under looked. Shifty. We really need to find a way to resign ehlers

I think that Nik's speed would give the Blues D fits. They'd have to play a super loose gap and I think he'd take that ice for shots

He's like the opposite of Buff but just as unique.

Sort of uncertain what Ehler’s injury is ? Ran into a guy at a shopping centre today, and he was wearing an Ehler’s Jet sweatshirt, and he thought it was an Achilles’ tendon injury ? I hope not, and if it is torn etc, he won’t be back. I don’t think it is, and I think it’s something with a deep bone bruise in the foot, or slight fractured tibia.

When Ehlers is on the ice, defenseman back off, and it opens up a lot of ice, and gives you time to make a play, or rush the net, and shoot. Also one of the few guys in the NHL, that has the speed to blow by defenseman, and charge the net, and shoot. This is why the power play is so effective when Nik’s In the lineup, and not effective when he’s out of the lineup.

Seems like a lot of posters are giving up on Ehlers resigning here, but I think there’s a good chance, and I hope he does. An electrifying, and dynamic player, loved by the fans, and all his teammates.

Sign the man Chevy, he puts butts in the seats, and brings in a lot of money for the Jets.

Offer him $ 9 mil, and I bet he signs, even though it may be a bit of an overpayment, but keeps the team totally together.
