Injury Report: Jets health heading into the playoffs

Based on the presser today, it sounds like Gabe might be close for Saturday but maybe not likely. Ehlers doesn't sound like he'll be ready to go

We know that this team is capable of winning shorthanded as long as they play the right way.. maybe Arniel waits to see how game one goes before rushing anyone back. A win and they could take their time re-integrating those guys into the line up... a loss and they might rush them back a bit
As long as we have Mo and Helly this team has a chance.

Again i love Ehlers but maybe his 4 goals and 10 assists in 37 playoff games isn't as hard to replace as we think.

Well, since the Jets haven't done anything meaningful in the playoffs since 2018 they were always going to need him to breakthrough eventually. They will definitely miss him if he misses any significant amount of games.

That is assuming he would pace the same this post season and that is tough to predict.

Injuries are part of the Stanley cup playoff runs so if we plan to be playing for two months then Nik will most likely be part of the journey at some point. If this Jets team is going to make some noise then an injury like this won’t get in the way. This team has done a great job adapting all season so let’s get at it.

I’ll reiterate that I have confidence that Arniel can make the most of any lineup he has. He’s done it all year.

He was running Iafallo in Vilardi's place and we were dishing out Ls to some great teams.

There's pretty much only one player whose injury status I dread. I won't say his name. A. I don't need to and B. I ain't putting that evil out in the world.

Yup, 1 full season in the last 7. Time to move on. Especially at the price it will take to re-sign him. Not to mention he's been a playoff ghost historically.

Not nearly as bad as you make it out to be.

He missed:

20 games in 2018-19
0 games in 2019-20
9 games in 2020-21
20 games in 2021-22
37 games in 2022-23
0 games in 2023-24
13 games in 2024-35

Ehlers has played just under 82% of Jets regular season games since 2018. Not great, but hardly a guy who misses significant chunks of a season annually.

Sweeping the Oilers in 2021 was very, very meaningful to many of us especially us fans with Jets 1.0 vs Oilers playoffs childhood PTSD

Missing almost 1 out of every 5 games in his career is indeed significant, but I'm not sure how that compares to an average career

For those saying that we can't win without Nik and Gabe, weren't those two out of the lineup when we played St Louis the last time? It was one of the best games I've seen them play in person since they've come back.
I agree - if they play the way they can play, there is less need for the players that think they can win it without that effort.
This has always been the question IMO - are we winning most of our games because we have better players or because we have a better team game (and plan)?
You can get by with less talent if you can convince everyone to play the way Arniel wants them to - and for the most part, they have shown they can play that way most nights.
Helle is the other major factor.

Yup, was at that game with 2 of my sons and I had to remind them of that when they were "doomsdaying" over the fact the Jets play the Blues! It's not going to be easy, but we can do it.

I wonder if we go ahead without Gabe for Gm 1, regardless of if he could go? See how it goes...obviously none of us here knows for sure what his injury is, but is every game we hold him out a better chance to get him to 100%?
