Nope - on a pinch it's the forward that's supposed to cover for him. Not on Heinola in my viewing.

Not sure what the numbers were, but it sure seemed that 90% of the Flyers extended offensive zone time was when Wheels & Schief were on the ice... seriously, it's not a #1 line if the home team is matching their best offensive line against you. They scare no one.

We have 1 real line that works, the rest don't have a purpose or vision. They just kind of skate around and dump the puck in.

Earlier in the game it looked like we were starting to get some interesting movement in the o zone, but that disappeared for the last half of the game. Would be interested to see more of that.

Don't like it that PP line 1 plays almost the whole thing - maybe keep KFC and PLD on and switch up the rest.

In order to make up for this, we'll have to beat the top teams in February. I wouldn't bet on them making it.
Agreed on everything.
My only problem is I seem to be developing troubling symptoms of a tumor in my optimism lobe..I’m waiting for a referral.
I heard there’s a good neurological surgeon on the Tank Thread…

Sure, he could use some more offensive firepower on his wings, and no argument from me that Wheeler is finished in any top six capacity at this point.

But man, it's almost getting Laine-esque on how Scheifele needs the sun, moon, and stars to align to figure shit out these days.

The reality is his effort and compete on a nightly basis is just not good enough -- and it's been a trend in his game for far too long.

That's on nobody but Scheifele.
I'm not defending 55, but he's our 1 or 2 C and has nothing to work with. That's on Chevy. RW has been a sore spot for 2 years now, what's he waiting for? There is nothing in the pipeline so what's the plan?

saying pinching instead of jumping in... does it really matter that much? sorry for saying the wrong term even though everyone understands what I meant
Yes it does , it’s completely different. We had the puck ffs. It’s not like Ville sold out on some gamble to keep the puck in and got burned. That would be entirely on him. He passed the puck to PLD, stepped around his man to get a return pass, was in complete position to do so and got a waist high return pass for his troubles. He made a great read and PLD made a shit play.

Yeah that wasn't a pinch. More of a give n go type play.

It descended into chip and chase because the Jets couldn’t cope with a forward who tracked back hard on the puck carrier heading up ice. Having never done it themselves it baffled them and made them piss their pants.
I didn't see that with the Connor-PLD-Perfetti line.

The Jets were controlling the game in the first and tanked in the second - if you check out naturalstattrick, its an extended shift by a reunited Connor-Scheif-Wheeler that tanks the game... they stay on for a long shift while Philly changes 3 times

I think that's our PP but that's where the momentum shifts and never returns - if Lowry wants to keep his job, he needs to make PLD the #1 line and reel in 55-26... but I don't think he can

and every one who watched the play when I said pinched instead of jumped in knew what I meant but you just want to argue about what term I used... are you gonna message murat on twitter and tell him he also used the wrong term to describe the play?

I’m not arguing about the term, you are. I’m stating the play he actually made, he didn’t pinch to keep the puck in, which is what a pinch is He got open to receive a pass on a give and go and the puck carrier f***ed it up epically.
Sure, I’ll message Murat and let him know as well. Sorry, not appealing to Murat’s apparent authority. It’s a poor description of what actually happened.

Texas hill country
Half a dozen good pieces on this team. Rest is trash. Last few weeks heard a lot about lack of an identity. I think it left with #33. The current ‘leaders’ are a horrible example of professionalism. Assholes are making millions and can’t skate or hit or clearly give a shit. Sell off what they can and build around PLD, Ehlers, KFC

Connor: 21:05 TOI, 1 point, +1. Pretty good. Not much more to say.
Dubois: 17:12 TOI (WTF), 1 point, 0. Yeah, he made a ill-timed pass but, man, he works hard as is effective.
Perfetti: 15:13 TOI, 1 point, +1. Pretty good for a rook. OK with his TOI, sort of.

Copp: 19:39 TOI, 0 points, -2. He looked gassed out there all night. 3rd liner on a contender.
Scheifele: 18:48 TOI, 0 points, -2. Not much to say here but he's one disinterested player. As the late John Robertson used to say when he was writing about the Bombers' woes....back up the bus.
Wheeler: 18:55 TOI, 0 points, -2. Can't skate anymore. No speed. Has trouble taking a pass. Should be playing 3rd line minutes.

Forgetting special teams and the supposed meaningless +/-, C-S-W gets too much ice time.

After watching that line tonight, I more po'd about this team's performance than I've ever been.

End of rant.

Cheers.

+/- is meaningless here. The first goal they were on was a bad play by Pionk that ended up in the back of their net. The 2nd was an empty net against.

Is there the talent though? No number 1 D. 1 top winger no top centre. Average goalie

I agree and have been scratching my head over where this talent is??
Underachievers in 55 and 44
End of the roader in 26
Non existent scoring ability in 17, 12, 22, 93...
Basically a good goalie, 2 studs in 80 and 81 plus a borderline superstar in 27.

Bottomline this is a team of individuals playing for themselves not each other or this iceberg of a city

80 turned the puck over, and nobody had time to cover for Ville.

Stupid coach should have been running 4 d late in the game. Ville shouldn't have been out there. Do you think Maurice would have had him out there late in a tie game. Lowry is looking like a poor choice.

Maybe it wasn't the smartest play but pld seemed to know what heinola was doing as he tried returning the pass.
Harkins should have known what he was doing as well, but instead he heads to occupy the same ice Heinola was filling instead of tracking back to the blue line. Not sure what he figured he was going to do when he got there with his momentum moving away from the net.
The whole play actually typifies this teams offense tbh. Just a clusterf***.
