Prospect Info: Jets draft RW Dmitri Rashevsky - 5th Round, 146th overall

Well that's unfortunate. I was really hoping he'd come over this year. Might get another shot down the line at 28 but it's gonna be tough for him to translate his game the longer he waits.

He scores at somewhere around a 0.6 points per game in the KHL...you got to wonder how well his game would have transferred over to the NHL anyway. Especially if he was going to be battling for a mid or bottom six wing spot.

825k US vs how much on the Jets?

making the Jets also is a huge question mark, & in what role? without NHL assurances, could be AHL which is way less $.
he would probably get in the 900k range on the jets and more for bonuses if he makes the team, they would probably give him an out clause if he doesn't make the team as well

I would guess that the Jets are still working on an Ehlers extension and Rashevsky coming over or not would be directly tied to that.

they will want him to come over regardless of ehlers extending or not, they tried to bring him here last off season

The Jets would still want him yes, but how many wingers are blocking him if Ehlers signs? He would have zero path to the top six for years.

there is a spot on the 3rd line available right now, a 3rd line that plays a lot of minutes and there will also there will be injuries, I really doubt him signing or not has anything to do with ehlers

fyi he was only getting 14:13 mins per game in the khl

I wonder what that gets you in Russia. 65M rubles might go pretty far there. 850k is obviously very good money here but for the lifestyle switch up it might be very different. Does 65M rubles go a lot further than 850k in NA?
Well I guess it could come down to lifestyle choices for him.

He signed the offer sheet with Omsk, which for a Siberian city has many great attractions:

Omsk's monument to the plumber ranks as their #1 attraction so it must be quite a spectacular monument.

However, it sounds like his rights could get bought by Magnitogorsk. While it is located in the more temperate Ural region, their list of attractions doesn't seem to match up. For example, their monument to the street cleaner and plumber only ranks as the #10 thing to see in Magnitogorsk.

How much will quality of plumber monuments factor into Rashevsky's decision on where to play next year? Only time will tell...

Winnipeg has no such monuments honouring the trades so we might be SOL.

Atleast him being willing to sign in Siberia shows that his issue with not coming over isn't Winnipeg related.

the thing is that offer sheet in Russia is probably his max for his career, if he does well in the NHL, could easily be making 3-4 million next year, Russia is always a safe fallback, crazy not to come and try

Does he even speak English? I wonder if he just happy with where he is in life and is just happy playing hockey in Russia while still making good but not NHL money. He would likely spend time in the AHL as his stats don't indicate a no brainer NHLr and maybe he just doesn't wanna deal with that.

If he ends up in the AHL I think his money goes from probably around 900k a season to around 70k a season. So the move is not without risk.

Yeah, not every player feels the need to come over. If he's happy where he is making a million a year then all the power to him.
