Some of you guys are talking out your asses lol
You don’t trade Ehlers.
I think we just need to ship 26 and 55 in a package and we are better.
That and an entirely new coaching staff that is.
It’s a culture change that’s needed. Not so much a roster problem. But in order for that change to happen, those two have to go

Is he really the better player?
I submit Connor is a better player as he plays on the pk and is dangerous there, is a difference maker on the pp as evidenced by the goose egg put up tonight by the pp and he is a more north /south player. Ehlers is great but hard to play with whereas Connor is predictable and a gifted goal scorer

Ehlers makes pretty much every line he's on into a plus line so i dunno if you can say he's hard to play with.

Can't remember the last time the tone of the postmortem interviews were positive, maybe 16-17?

Very much been an us vs the world mentality every season since the WCF appearance.

I am sure after one post season presser, some of the players stated the fans should be happy/content with the results........taking into account of the defensive structure/personnel at the time.

I think that was a Paul Maurice interview where he was asked about the team underperforming and his reply was indignantly suggesting that fans expectations were too high

Ehlers probably could play on the PK, he did in junior and I think he's said he was interested in doing it in the NHL. Paul Maurice just always had him locked into that 2nd line LW/2nd PP offense only role and that didn't change under Lowry.

Not too dissimilar to the narrative the Ehlers sucks on breakaways/shootouts but he's only had 5 career attempts or something and is 1/5 :dunno:
He could but he hasn't. I am just saying Connor has been the Jets MVP and if you build around him, Dubois, Helly, Heinola and know after getting a good return for Ehlers it could be the move to make this team a playoff team.

Not much energy in the stands anymore. So many rows half empty.
It will be interesting to see how many season tickets won’t be renewed.
55 has checked out

Why in the world would you ever get rid of young/prime guys who are good players and love it here? Trading Ehlers would be pretty crazy IMO unless you're going for the full 4-5 year tear-it-down rebuild, in which case why keep Connor and Dubois?

Why do you say that?
All options should be explored.
No one is taking 26's contract.
The return for Ehler's is greater than for 55.
I am not saying culture change is not needed but the next coach determines the teams identity.
The question is what type of players are needed to play in the system and buy into the identity.

i remember that....sure one or more players backed him up.....not sure something that a coach should instill in the minds of players as an excuse...i have always maintained the stance pomo was a destructive coach as he was an enabler especially towards the vets...wanted players who he didnt need to coach!!!...and voila now the jets are a team with players who think they dont need to be coached.

Ripley, Ont
Entirely new (and modern) coaching staff with fresh ideas and actual special teams. And make 2 trades, 1 that makes a statement and 1 to clear room for rookies. Scheifele and either Dillon or Schmidt is plenty of statement.
And please, no geriatric re-tread coach. Bring in Gronborg or Sandelin, or something along those lines.

Yeah, without getting too far into conspiracy theories I'm firmly in the camp that believes Paul Maurice was a better marketer than he was coach.

I guess no way of knowing but I think so too. Maybe some of PoMo's strategies for how he kept control of the room kind of took on a life of their own a little bit.

I think you are going to see Maurice appear once again with True North in the next year or so.

The Jets need skill in their lineup given the lose of Laine and the decline of Wheeler. Ehlers brings consistent 60 point production and elite play driving largely from the second line. That is hard to replace. We definitely need to keep him. There is more then enough room for both on this team moving forward. Trading him would just create another hole in the lineup. He also gives an honest effort, the org needs more skill not less. Plus offensive wingers don't generally have that much market value.

I had full intentions of watching the entire Jets game for the first time since December. I turned it off after the first. I don’t know what to sat about this.

BTW, I have deactivated The Switch. 7-4 with it on but this season is officially kaput.

Someone on the Kings board does a "What They're Saying" recap of the opponent's GDT. I thought it was pretty cool. Next time we play the Kings I'll have to come up with something quote-worthy.
