Can't hit the net - just like last game - where are our shooters?

Sloppy game and the Kings know how to play a sloppy game - just shoot and hit the net, traffic in front and jump on loose pucks.
With the skill we have, it's frustrating to watch a game like this - missed shots, missed tip in's, not on the rebounds, and
did I mention hit the net?

I agree, though I'd like to add our shooters should've hit the net more.

Certainly our passive PK has been exposed and must become more aggressive in both the neutral zone and defensive zone...but then again, we have all known this for years!

Our coaching staff need to go back to the drawing board on special teams. The book has been out on both for a while.

Perhaps the worst game I have seen Morrissey play. Timing was off, was caught flat footed a couple of times and was sloppy with his passing. All of which are uncharacteristic. Not sure if he is injured or he's putting too much pressure on himself but he just needs to relax and play his own game and not try to force things that aren't there.

.
down right been playing horrible agreed. just goes to show having buff and trouba able to help him with breakouts makes a huge diff and shows how good those guys were.. alot of people were ready to crown j mo as the best jets d and maybe he is when hes allowed to play his game. but he cant play it with plugs that defur to him all the time under pressure this is where we miss trouba and buffs big bodies where they eat it take the forechek pressure spin off and get it to him with time

Also what are we doing keeping Gustafsson up here? Send him down so that he can actually play in high leverage minutes and develop his offensive game. Playing him 6 minutes a night with Borque as one of his wingers surely is not helping him long term. Hard to believe someone like Spacek or Suess can't fill that hole on the 4th line C position.

Opposing forwards have no fear when coming into our zone. None of our defense is able or willing to punish them. A high hard check when crossing the blueline or along the boards can be a momentum changer.

I'm coming to the conclusion that we are not that spectacular a team.
And/or we need a new coaching staff because this group seems to be trying to jam a square peg into a round hole. I've always given Maurice the benefit of the doubt until now. Too much same old every game.
Without a lethal PP as a weapon, we don't stand a chance.

1-4 home stand is pretty ugly.

special teams killing this team, total momentum killers.

Hope 29-55-27 stays together for a bit.

Get Apples back in the lineup and Bourque out ffs.

Helle gave us a chance, let him down.

Post-game audio:

Players: Blake Wheeler and Connor Hellebuyck.

Coach Maurice: On the two early penalty kills and whether that took them out of their rhythm. Was he surprised? Is that game a microcosm of the penalty kill? Switching Wheeler and Ehlers and what does he see from Blake Wheeler right now? What has Hellebuyck done to get into a rhythm? Goalie plan. Are the last two games a function of a young team? On this being a collective team loss. Using two offensive players on the PK late in the game. On the Heritage Classic and if it is a good or bad thing.

Not very many dmen can play with plugs in such a role, even Doughty was awful last year when forced to play 6/7 dmen in Forbert. I have never sold the other two short, both are big losses and helped contribute substantially. Good players generally need to play with other good players to get the most out of them. Even McDavid needs a Draisital to run shot gun with him. Just get JoMo a good top 4 partner and he'll look much better.

The Wheeler hate here is sad. Now people want him off the team? Lol.

Is he having a poor start? Sure. Was he a joy to watch this game? No. But the microscoping, scapegoating, and cherry-picking of micro-events is ridiculous imho. It seems like some of you spend half your posts complaining about him. If a single player is causing you that much stress...to the point where you hyper-examine every play he makes....time to step back a little.

We need our forwards back checking hard in order for our dmen to gap hard. The forwards have been very hit and miss doing that this year.

I have a theory, maybe I'll share it sometime.

I have one too -
They don't play very well together and our skilled guys hang on the puck too long -
They pass the puck when they run out of room - and at that point it's too late.

No speed through the neutral zone - we don't break out as a wave - it's one guys trying to beat the blue line with the other 2 watching.
Why are we not hitting those speedy guys with quick passes at full flight?
I don't see a lot of cohesion - at least not tonight.

Maybe it has something to do with our D - IDK, but we need to be much better at moving the puck out of our end and everyone should be involved - not just Ehlers or Scheif.

KC needs to do more than dump - because his line mates are not chasing so what's the point. He's still stuck in first line mode.
Ehlers has blinders on - he's always looking for that cut to the middle and when it's not there, he's too deep to create anything.
Little's just watching at this point because all 3 of them are playing a different game.

Glad they broke up the top 6 and moved wheels down - they all need a shake up. Our zone entries are horrible and I blame most of that on how we move the puck between players -

How was the third line? They should send Gus down. Run copp Perrault Roslo and bourque( coach isn't moving him) Lowry Appleton.
