Roslo looks good for stretches and then looks like crap for stretches, don’t think he’s smart enough for a top 6 role, just seems like a dumb player with zero hockey sense!
The report on him was he was a product of matthews and tkachuk. It sure looks like that is the case. I always wonder if we drafted 24th instead of 25 would we have drafted kenecny or stayed with roslovic

I feel like I remember rumblings that Boeser and Konecny were 2 that the Jets were looking for at 25.

hasn't laine and ehlers on the same line fallen flat the last 2 years. laine complaining about the line he was on ehlers was 1/3 of it for 2 years. on a side note its time to move roslovic off the top 6 and move Perreault back. he is trending to be a bottom 6 player.

Why not Connor-Scheif-Laine, Copp-Lowry-Wheeler, Perreault-Roslovic-Ehlers. Then we have 3 potential scoring lines. Right now we have 2, and Perreault is a trainwreck in the defensive zone, which negates the hard work of his two linemates.

When Tyler Myers was asked this on TV during an interview -- his reply was as follows :

Question -- which one of your Jet's teammates is most likely to get lost in traffic ?

Myer's answer -- Jack Roslovic

Do you have to be smart to be a good hockey player ? or just have good instincts in NHL ? I think Roslovic has been playing well this year, but I missed a couple games lately.

I would think there's a lot of guys in the NHL that aren't to bright, but still good productive players ? but I guess it doesn't hurt to have a fast working processor on your shoulders. ;)

Should add -- there probably is quite a difference between hockey smarts ( hockey IQ) and an academic IQ -- I think Gretzky's biggest asset was his "brain" and how fast he processed the game.

I suspect that he is right as well. But a point shot driven offense with no traffic in front is mindless. I do not believe that the coach is coaching them not to get to the net. I suppose it is possible that our forward too often defer to being too high in an effort to generate back pressure when the puck goes the other way.

Yes, it could be that. It could also be that the coach is coaching a risk averse style.

Would you trade Laine for Dubois?

Considering Laine could be a 50 goal scorer -this wouldn't be a good trade at this time. We really don't know how Laine's going to evolve.

Laine’s point was that he wants to play 1st line minutes with Scheifele. A line with ESL could be deadly on the rush, and CWR should have some chemistry as well.

We could also have Dubois instead of Laine and been a better team hindsight is 50/50.

Who in their right mind would take Dubois over Laine now, let alone 2015?

For real with you guys.

Pierre Luc is a decent 2nd center, not an all star. Laine has all star future written on him, and apart from 1 season he has been on totally different tier than Dubois so far.

So near PPG Laine that would score only 30 goals would be OK trade for a decent-but-not great 2C? Interesting.

What a wierd time to be griping about the 1st line and Laine. They're dominating the shots and scoring chances, save percentage when they're on the ice is lower from the medium, Laine had 8 shots again and somehow didn't get a goal and the line had 14 SOG, both his and Connor's shooting percentage is horrible right now and we know both are great goalscorers. Laine's stats away from Connor and Scheif are even better and his shooting percentage is an abysmal 3 % so you know he's bound for some goals. This all on 5v5.

I would bet on the 1st line to put some pucks to the net in the next games, that line is the least of the Jets problems.

Myers would be holding Roslovic's hand while Roslovic was lost in traffic , Myers ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer either . ;)

Better than Roslovic.

Travis Konecny Hockey Stats and Profile at hockeydb.com

We won't even mention how we could have had Sebastian Aho.
Every team in the league could have drafted Aho, such is the nature of an entry draft when you are picking 18 y/o kids. Not every 18 is on the same development arc where it is known what type of player they will end up. There hasn't been a draft yet in the history of entry drafts where there hasn't been 1st round busts and star players picked in subsequent rounds. The fact the Jets came away with a star player at #17 and an up and rising player at #25 is a win by the organization.

Both are great, but PLD is a physical 2-way defensive center who had over 60 points in his 2nd year of his ELC.
He is absolutely a #1 center (already).

The guy is the next Bergeron, Barkov type player. If Laine hits his ceiling, sure. But people sleep on PLD. He could become the 2nd best player of the draft after Matthews.

Let's just hope Laine becomes ppg, as he should. Then we have nothing to debate!

Pre game thread is up and this has gone way OT, even for a post game thread.
