If they play like they did for most of NJ game or detroit game, no doubt. I am sure Montanbo plays. Still no legit call up or replacement for Heineman. I bet Matheson plays like 25 minutes. They are shooting themselves in the foot.I think we lose this one 5-1.
Why does it matter whether he played 6 games or 6 years? He's better than Montanbo at the moment. He is giving the team a better chance to win. Unless proven otherwise, why not play him? He hasn't show anything close to being tired or falling apart (as someone suggested above). It's like the coaches purposely trying to make it harder on the team who is already mighty struggling. How's this: Montembeault's proven he can sustain a solid 1B level of goaltending. He can give us 40 games a season without falling apart, unlike the long list of backups we used to have who were barely competent. He ain't Carey Price, but he's a lot better than Mike Condon.
I agree we're entering a new phase where we expect more. Monty will either step up or be replaced. But let's be smart about it. Dobes has been terrific, but six games isn't enough experience to suddenly take on a full workload. Stamina is huge with goalies. So is confidence. I want to give this kid enough time and opportunity to develop.
If Dobes is not developing before our eyes I don't know what is happening and the opportunity is achieved by playing him. Dobes has never shown issues with Stamina why would he start now. How's this: Montembeault's proven he can sustain a solid 1B level of goaltending. It doesn't take much to be the best club in the West.Best club in the Western Conference, completely full of themselves as usual. I'd appreciate a win just like a loss.
This is a must. We suck against Minnesota no matter what we do they are 8-1 this decade with 11 straight home wins. I guess the good news is the 1 came on home ice.HUGE game
the peg is another good test

He played a number of B2B games in Laval including a Night Game followed by an Afternoon Game down the stretch last season. He's actually much fresher than Montembault having only played 14 games in Laval.
He also does not lack confidence he never has and he never will.
One goaltender is currently stopping more rubber than the other eventually that has to determine who gets more of the net. So far Jakub Dobes is the one providing the reasons why we should play him more. I'm not sure we should be trying to find reasons why we shouldn't. It's like saying we won't play Lane Hutson because we are afraid he might have a bad game.
Nobody cares if people are saying Dobes is better than Montembault the fact is he's playing better than Sam Montembault. As far as changing his pace goes I think the important thing is for the club to be playing meaningful games as long as possible. If Dobes gives us a better chance of doing that Marty can't ignore it.You can't say Dobes is better than Montembeault, anymore than you can say he has unlimited stamina and confidence. We really don't know any of that yet. It takes a lot more than six NHL games to establish those claims. All we really know is, so far, Dobes is developing really well. They're pacing his starts and it's been working. You may think it's worth throwing him in the deep end at this very early stage of his development; I don't. Too much, too soon is how you ruin a goalie's confidence and overextend his stamina.
Look, we're not getting close to the Cup this season, even if Dobes becomes the next Ken Dryden. So why exactly are we in a rush to change the pace of his development when it's been working so well?

Just stay out of the box for this one!

That's just it – Dobes has hardly been held back. He's already faced the best teams and is already being used regularly. He's on the path towards getting more responsibility. Unless something happens, he'll earn extra games as a natural part of his development. Not only that, but they haven't even protected Dobes. He's played the second game of back to backs, he's played pretty much all of the best teams in the league and gotten points in every one of those games.
The only thing they'd be doing is moving his number of games up from 1 a week to 2 a week. Hardly a poison pill.

We played them very well a few weeks ago in their barn..............this is a big game, and a litmus test again vs the best teams..............we have recently fared very well.HUGE game

I wanna see us adopt the win and you are in policy with the goalies.............ride the hot hand.....That process is playing out right now. MSL is very aware of it but he also knows we need both goalies to remain confident. We need them both and this is a great situation with two good goalies who can both win a game.
We.re missing Geineman's speed and hustle. maybe RHP's hustle can help. but his lack of speed is the problem.Mtl played wpg well in a 4-2 loss the last time. But it just looks like mtl is wearing down with all the hard games lately. The break will help but need all the points they can get if they are serious about the playoffs
