Jets being good should be more surprising

Omg, quit while you're behind.

Derek Forbort signed a 1X1M contract with the Jets and then went to the Bruins as a free agent and signed a 3X3

Blake Wheeler was an elite RW and captain of the Jets having just completed back to back 91 point seasons. He was signing his legacy contract and was going to get that or more on the free market.

Just admit you're wrong, it's ok - we all are from time to time
Okay I was wrong. Still think team is doing remarkably well and in Winnipeg we have a bit of a complex. Yet, we are developing a better record than lots of the “exciting” cities. Especially when ppl talk bout how Canadian market and not being as anonymous will do us in.

What I'm seeing is a Jets team that is finally getting it -
Bones needs some credit here - and so do a few of the key players).
This team has good players - the missing pce was solid dedication to systems that has to start with defensive play.
I'm seeing that now - I sometimes wait for it to fall apart but it hasn't - if not completely sold, I'm more optimistic than I have been in yrs.
Rather than talking the talk (we all love each other and are a "team"), they now play like one - this was a bit of a slow mo transition but (knock on wood), it certainly looks like they are well on their way.

I was on the Lauer-sucks bandwagon last December when the Jets were flying high at 5v5 and the anemic powerplay wasn't really an issue, but even I'm surprised by how effective the Lauerless powerplay has been.

The Jets PP shot metrics this year aren't that impressive - unless you look at actual shots on goal, where the Jets are ranked 8th in the league. But the Corsis and xGs aren't great. SH% is 30% though - and that's just unsustainable over a full season. So expect some regression to the mean (the best PP SH% over the last few years topped out at 20%).

I think this team has landed on who they are with the team leadership fully dialled in with what the coaching staff wants. IMO we are seeing this play out in real time.

I said it at the end of the year but our players for once seemed genuinely embarrassed and pissed at their exit meetings. I felt that was potentially their wake up moment and so far we are seeing a much different group. Now the major test is still going to be the playoffs with this group.

It's not like Ladd lit up the league after he left the Jets.
Exactly, but I believe the rumor was that Chevy was close and wouldn't cross a line on either term or money, can't remember which or both. Then they started talking about how they moved on to Buff like that was the choice, yikes! Close call.

I think it's a different team without Dubois and Wheeler and Lowry as C. The leadership group is tight. I think they hold each other accountable.

I saw an interesting interview with Maurice where he talked about the point where he was no longer coaching the team, other than matchups and lines, that the players themselves bought in, and coached each other.

Do you always take posts on the internet literally? The 3 or 4 other people that liked the post clearly picked up on the sarcasm.

I just read what you wrote.

We have emojis to clarify things like humour and sarcasm.

I agree but I'm still not sure it is real. This team has got my hopes up so often in the past. It looks more real this time. But last year sucked me in too. This is not about winning or losing. It is about creating expectations and then failing to live up to them.

It isn't about going out in the first round or the third. It is about the way they have gone out in the past.

I like to think that they learned something in last season's PO. But I am being only cautiously optimistic.

Next time comprehend it, too. I guess? 😘

Given the Jets are off to a historical start, I'd think the sarcasm was fairly obvious. 🤔🤷🥓

Well it wasn't. I comprehended your words exactly as written.

The historical start is precisely why I reacted to your words. I don't know you. I don't know if a take like that is your style or not.
