Please Understand
Haha - It has been a long time, but I figured I better start this up again considering the imminent death of Twitter, and the fact this Jets team doesn't depress me immensely.

I slowly started trickling back after the hyper-assertive Laine fans followed him to Columbus. I've lost most of my optimism, but at least this team is actually playing watchable hockey. They're doing all right.

I can't figure out why he stopped just rotating his lines. Things were going so well. Thought the 4th line was on fire all night. Harkins does not want to go down.

I have no idea either. It's not like we can go power on power, because Carolina is a deeper team than the Jets. The Jets need to stay structured and not get out worked. You can't just cut your bench in half for the last 5 minutes of the game when you're up by three goals. I don't get it. What the f*** is wrong with you? There's no need to turtle that hard. Christ.

I was shooting a Pistons game on opening night, and listening to the radio PxP, and I was immediately hooked despite knowing basically nothing about this team.

They seem to actually try? I'm not sure what the word is for the last couple years under Maurice? They just seemed to go out on the ice and skate around hoping to win via lucky bounces?

FYI That DEEP Carolina team has 56 goals in 19 games while we have 50 in 17. They have given up 52 in 19 and we have give up 41 in 17.

Honestly thought the Jets had them figured out all game for the most part aside from the odd bounce here and there. Until that last few minutes. Everything was to the outside and we cleared the front well. Not sure what the scoring chances were but we had to out chance them by double until the end

Junior hockey coaches refuse to pull their goalie until the last minute. I have no idea why. I don't think I've seen a coach pull before 1:30 even down 2 goals this season, and I've seen a coach actually outright refuse to pull down one for some reason.

Yeah I don't recall very many scoring chances by them through the first 55 minutes. They seemed to fire a lot of long range shots from the outside.

That was a great game by Jets for about 56 minutes. I was hoping Rittich would get the shutout because he had earned it to that point. Then it was 3-2, which I think was my prediction score with 40 seconds to go. No such luck though.

Well earned win by Jets though, despite the letdown toward the end. Rittich played well. JMo was outstanding. Samberg had another strong game, despite 1 bad giveaway. Heinola was pretty good too in his 1st game of the season.

The bottom 6 was strong again too. Harkins was around the puck a lot and making things happen.

I think we play a similar style where you want possession deep in the zone. They skate really well and run 4 lines but we just matched them up all game. The Paul Maurice jets would have had Scheif/Wheeler/Connor out for 25 minutes and gassed half way through the game and likely down 2 to 0. I think Bones made a big mistake tonight shortening the bench but they pulled it out and I am hoping he doesn't continue to make that mistake

But god dam the Central is tight already. Just feels like you need to win every game. Be very nice to beat the Wild on Wednesday

There is still decent separation between us and the 5th through 7th teams but the top 4 are pretty tight.

One thing we do need to work at is better support on our cycles.

Listening to the Carolina feed it is about changing momentum. Pull the goalie for a minute and hope for a goal, then put them back in for a minute, then pull him again for a minute.

The Central is very, very weird this year. To already begin with: Jets are in the top 3, lol. COL and DAL seem to be separating themselves now in terms of points in the standings, but really all the teams that aren't actively tanking are on the same level competitively, IMO.

Was hoping STL losing streak was a sign of things to come, but after losing 8 straight they've won 7 straight, and I don't think it's just SH% and SV%. MIN's bad start to the season was Fleury's usual mishaps to begin a year. And to be frank, I have no idea how NSH is doing it, but they seem to be in the mix yet again.

The question I'm pondering is whether the Jets can and/or should make a move sooner than later to try and separate themselves from the pack, or not. And to me, that's a RH RW, a RD, or another RH centre, and there's not a lot of any of those out there. Only one that really stands out to me is Kevin Labanc in S.J but I have my worries about just how much he's creating versus getting with Meier and Hertl on the top line there.

First game I attended since the ‘Rona, I forgot how much better it is to watch live. I was hyper focused on the Jets backend and I have new found appreciation for Dillion and Samberg. Morrissey is too sexy for the ‘Canes.

damn you! now that song is on repeat...

To answer @robertocarlos's question: you can pull the goalie in OT; if you do, and you get an EN goal against, you forfeit your loser point (an exception exists so you can pull the goalie safely if it's a delayed penalty on the other team and you muff it into your own net).

No such rule exists in the KHL, and sure enough, teams have started pulling their goalie in OT as a strict percentage play.

In the NHL, even with this rule? This looks like a "game 82" tactic that might come up once a decade (i.e. you not only need 2 points but also +1 ROW for tiebreak), and if it does, I'm sure the coach won't do it anyways :P

While it's great to win games, we have the same amount of regulation wins this season as Arizona. I sure hope letting games like this get to OT doesn't come back to haunt us later in the season.

It wouldn't; regulation win and overtime wins are lumped together for tiebreak purposes (ROW = regulation and overtime wins). If it was an in-conference game against a team we may be fighting for a spot for? That's a concern.
