I mean kc is faster and pk is all bout cutting off gaps and pressuring.

Also Gmoney showed that Kc has fewer turnovers and more assists so it’s easy to think he makes smarter plays once he has the puck on his stick.

That doesn’t explain why they would want kc over ehlers considering Ehlers should be fresher playing fewer minutes, unless they already want a guy from top line already on ice so it’s easier to join him then switch all 3 guys.

If we kept Dillion Berg wouldn’t step up as he’d be on bottom pairing. Or they wanted to save money for Ehlers big signing this year.
If you watch ehlers, he wilfully takes short shifts... usually the first guy from his line off the ice - so maybe the less ice time allows him to keep his speed up

Wingers usually have less turnovers than centers... but i see what youre saying

Connor also has the hands to knock pucks out of the air. We've seen it multiple times

WRT to Ehlers on the PK, the emphasis on rigid structure doesn't match his, um, "skillset"

He's at his best when he can wheel and ad lib. In fact, I think it's that plus his teammates having to react to that on the PP that is what's been transformative

names had a good game but he still is not the answer at 2c, he had good games early in the year as well but then went ice cold, he is a good player, but he is a player that should only play up the lineup when injuries happen, if we want to go far the playoffs we need a legit 1-2 punch
I like names but if we upgrade he is too slow for 4C and prob should be pressboxed - think cozens has moved into my top spot of available 2C... the guy is fast and would automatically be our 2PP center/trigger man

Jets played good and dominated play in the 1st period, and the Caps dominated the 2nd period. The 3rd period- pretty even.

I thought Helle let in a couple goals he’d normally save, but he’s won us way more than lost.

As a couple of posters have said, we need a couple big tough defenseman, to clear that net front. Those Caps forwards are big, and the smaller D men can’t clear them from the front of the net, which may be a big problem in the playoffs.

Brendan Dillon would have been perfect for that, and I hope we can find one that’s similar.

Since you don’t care what anyone says I’m going to put out the argument this season the jets 3 most important players are kc, Helly and mo. Kc has been even more prolific offensively, turns the puck over less and in my opinion has been playing better defensively.
As a bonus, they trust kc on the pk in a way they don’t trust schief.
Wow way to step out on a limb!!

It probably is something of a trust factor with Ehlers - he's too unpredictable for coaches' tastes. That's cool on the powerplay, but probably not so much on the PK. He'd might still be effective though.

I really like what Vladdy brings to this team and yes the team is playing lights out but I really feel for a long playoff run this team needs a better 2 line centre who has an all around game to take the pressure off the top line and their defending limitations. Lurch as the third and Vladdy as the 4th makes this team with that added 2C really strong down the middle. Now it's up to Chevy to figure that out.

Yeah i was about to say i have no problem not liking him. I don't want him to break the record (though obvious he's going to)

It really seems like for all we complain about not having a legit 2C Namestnikov is the straw that stirs that drink.

He looks like whatever was ailing him is better. I do wish he had a bit better finish but he's been creating a lot for that line.

Since he came back from his injury he is a different player again.

If Josh played in the Center of the Universe, he'd be locked in for the Norris already. But he doesn't, and he'll have to be that much better than anyone else to get the recognition he deserves. Such a solid, dependable, dynamic player.
I don’t know about that ? Helle doesn’t play in the center of the Universe and he’ll likely win his 3rd Vezina trophy this year. Helle is a standout goalie though and Josh is sort of on the cusp of winning a Norris trophy. As you say tho, if Josh played for Toronto or New York, that would likely boost his chances. For him to win a Norris, he’d have to totally dominate other defenseman, like Cale Makar, for Colorado.

If the season continues like this and we finish as President cup champs,
I would be extremely disappointed if we get knocked out in the playoffs in the 1st or 2nd round
WCF and Stanley cup finals all the way!
I'll be diassapointed with an early exit too... but I'm not going to let that possibility stop me from enjoying this amazing season

I'm not sure what game you were watching but the Caps took it to us in the third period.

On paper this move doesn't seem like a slam dunk.
Cozens is having a major down year.
Vlad has more points than he does (in 2 fewer games).

I think there is close to zero chance Vlad would be press boxed.
The coaching staff clearly trusts him big time (PK2, PP2, C2, starting OT recently a few times).
He's been our 4C before.
Kupari has a long way to go before he could supplant Vlad.
If we do get a player in the top 6 I have no idea who they would take off the 4th line because I think they are pretty happy with everyone.
It does feel like we need some injury protection.
Lambert, Chibrikov (pre-injury), Ford etc... are good prospects but I'm not sure they are playoff ready this year.

Getting the 2C hasn't worked in the past as well as we'd like.
A top 4'ish RD may have better impact to the team.

Cozens is a risk and sure he is having a bad year but he is also stuck on a dumpster fire of a team, we need a long term 2C solution and anyone that has watched Cozens play can see the ceiling of this kid is still quite high, the talent is definitely there.

Vlad is never going to be a top 6 centre but Cozens just might and whilst we need help now we also need to look toward our future, I think it's worth the risk.

What a beautiful play on that OT goal
"Play" is the key word generally. The eye test on NHL games this season seems to reveal that the Jets also have one of the best records for play making goals. So many teams rely on dirty goals from slamming and banging the net front..........Is this noticeable to others?

Ford is a hard working tough little guy but man he looked like a little boy out there against the Caps, his lack of size is a huge issue when we already have too many smaller players with a lot more skill!
I thought Ford was ok. Took a big hit to clear the zone, finished a few checks with his speed. D-zone coverage not sure he's there yet, but most rookies aren't that good at reading the plays defensively at the NHL level. It's a learning process. Don't expect him to be playing in meaningful games. He'll probably go back to play for the Moose this week. Maybe somebody else gets the call up for the home stand, maybe he gets a couple more. But he'll go back knowing he can play in the NHL, that's a dream come true and a lot of hard work put in for an undrafted player.
Nope , Islanders have 7
Not anymore. Vegas next then the Jets. Could be a 3 game losing streak by the time they get to Minnesota to finish off the week.

My problem with this is that the Norris trophy is supposed to be awarded to the leagues best defenseman and often is just summarily awarded to the d who scored the most.

I still believe there should be 3 D awards: best offensive, best defensive and best overall.

If it was an accurate award I think Morrissey would have won one already.
