Malinski looks like a guy running out of gas. The offense we saw last year is gone and he's less and less reliable defensively. Compound that with the fact that we already have a small defense and IMHO this guy should not be a starter for us in the playoffs.

How was Parsnips in his first game?

Ok, definition of ok..

Made a dump in that didn't quite go all the way that they scored off of with a stretch pass during a change. We had guys back, they just got beat though. Not all on him, but needs to put more on it. Showed some ability to hang onto the puck and made a few good passes.

Got lit up early by the pilon Logan Stanley too.

Who got hurt? Glad we won! Even though I missed it. It looks like the Avs played great!

Happy New Years to all of you!

I wonder if the Avs look at a game like this, see Middleton do relatively well against big boys while Malinski struggles and think they need to find a 3rd pairing RHD to replace him.

I don't know about out of gas. The offense isn't there like it was last season but IMO it's because he took the time to really focus on his defensive game this season, which is MUCH improved.

Now, I don't know if he's going to be here come playoff time because the Avs are small as it is but I don't think he's running out of gas.

He had a shift in the 3rd that I loved, threw three hits, big disruptor on the forecheck and causing havoc in the Jets zone.

If the Avs can find a way to get that out of him, even if he doesn't throw the hits, just be a major forecheck disruptor they could have something.

We just beat the division leader. Pretty happy about that. Shows that now with our improved goaltending, we are arguably the team to beat in the West. Not that impressed by Vegas.

Let's f***ing do this. While it's stretch, I wouldn't say even grabbing the division is impossible. I have confidence in this team.

Malinski really struggled. Still a good player overall but without being put in more offensive situations, his warts will just be obvious especially without a solid d partner.

Don’t get too happy.

The Jets board said the schedule makers marked this as an Avs win, since they played us on the back half of a B2B.

They’ve already said the next game against us will be a loss as well, because… yep, the schedule makers are putting us against them on the back end of a B2B.

He needs to battle more in front of the net. G gets pushed around there, but at least he's battling. Malinski is always looking to intercept the pass, but you can't always do that. Get in there and f*** some guys up, or at the very least, lift their sticks.

For that back to back, they play LA in Winnipeg before they host us the next day also in Winnipeg. You would have to think we'd see Helly that game and not their backup.

I've really liked his game since he's been up. Keeps it simple, gets the puck out, even gets shots through to the net and brings some much needed size/physicality. I like him a lot more than the other three we've thrown in that spot. I'm not opposed to an upgrade there but just saying I think he's done surprisingly, as you put it relatively well.

They can suck it. If any team has a beef with the NHL schedule makers, it's the Avs. Their November/December was a death march.
