There was one sequence where the puck was in the corner to Helly's left and Chibrikov was harrassing 6'5" Carlo (IIRC). The puck went somewhere else, Carlo disengaged, then he circled behind the net to come up beside Helly on the other side. Meanwhile Chibs beelined through the crease to reengage Carlo by pretty much skating right into his face (in a manner of speaking considering Chibs is 7 inches shorter), thereby neutralizing Carlo. It was hilarious. Anyway, there's just no fear or quit in Chibs, and quite clearly from the crowd reaction after his goal he is already a fan favourite. Love his interviews too, all deadpan and all business.

I was at the game, in the 100's so I was super close to the ice and saw this happen, it was amazing. Also the guys who started the Swaaaayymannnn chant were right behind me, I joked with them that they should pull him for the extra attacker when we scored our 8th.

Heres the thing, normally I'd say give the kid the looks and send him back down so we can return to form. But every game I've seen from him, whether that be vs the nucks, boston, or down on the moose he has no quit. Its a small sample size at the nhl level but I think he's just hungry and certainly proving he deserves to stay up. We need his feistyness in the lineup for sure.

As for what roster decisions we make when 27 is back, im not sure. Let Barron take Gus' spot in the PB and see what else Nikita has to show us.

Is Perfetti going to be an important piece of the future? He's running out of time for "he's still young". By next year I don't want to hear any excuses about his age.

I was thinking he got the kick in the pants he needed last year and would come back this year strong but aren't we getting the same Perfetti we saw last year? Started out strong like everyone else but now the production is becoming more sparce as teams are locking down their defensive structure. To be honest that bridge is looking smarter and smarter for the Jets.
Some people who look at those speed stats say he's fast but I just see him late to everywhere he needs to be and does little more than waive his stick around. He does very little defensively to get the puck back. Offensively he has great vision but seems to use it from the perimeter for the most part like much of his game, which has worked well on the PP when he has all day to find some seems. He gets half his points on PP2. I guess you can say it's not fair to judge him without Ehlers but that's just admitting he isn't driving jack shit.

So far I'm seeing a complementary player more than a core piece.

A lot of people hated Bowness’ approach with Perfetti last season. I’m beginning to think he was on to something.

Imagine the current Jets roster with Monahan and Toffoli - or whatever, replace them with two decent-ish veteran scoring line Fs - and then a healthy Ehlers. Does Perfetti have a place in the forward lineup?

The opportunity has been there. He’s playing prime minutes and PP1 time, but outside of the two goals vs. Vegas he’s done very little. Unfortunately what I’ve seen from Perfetti is exactly like you said, a complementary piece at best. The kind of guy who needs prime minutes and heavy PP usage to even flirt with 50+ points.

Not a lost cause by any stretch but I’m beginning to have my doubts about him as a core piece.

I was curious about the take on that fight from the Bruins's board. It was mostly utter disgust at what Frederic did. Last night on the Kenny vs Renny post game show, it was Renny who spent about 30 minutes defending Frederic. What a moron.

I share the disgust of the Bruins board. We (mostly) all like a good, spontaneous, passionate hockey fight, with a willing opponent, but this was just plain predatory. I had a clear view at the game: Frederic goaded him, cross checked him, dropped the gloves and smashed him. It was entirely premeditated and Gus was probably too surprised to walk away. Now he's got a concussion, aka, traumatic brain injury, which he may or may not recover from quickly or completely.

Renny is the media equivalent of Frederic--both hit hard but don't think too hard about the consequences. After all, it pays the bills.

It almost might be better if he has another slow year to allow the jets to sign him to a lower value long term deal.

He is slowly growing and will peak in 2026.

Assuming both are in the lineup, I have no doubt Lowry will challenge Frederic when they play again in Boston. The tit-for-tat side of me wants to see Lowry ambush a Bruins player that’s never fought in his life.

He needs to continue to grow, he needs to become more consistent in production, he needs to continue to get better. 18 points in 30 games though as a 22 year old, while being +11 is pretty darn good, compared to most players at that age and many around his age who were high draft picks. Could it be better? Absolutely. Does he need to keep working hard to get to where we all hope he will get to? For sure.

A lot of jets are polarizing. I mean even last year a lot of ppl wanted kfc gone because he is soft and doesn’t play defense. Lowry is known as stone hands. The only players who generally get a pass are Morrissey and Hellybuck.
