I think the smartest posters we have look at these things holistically. Basing opinions of players play off seasons and not game-by-game. One game doesn't change anyone's mind. But 20 games or half a season definitely will.

Love that Pionk is putting up huge numbers and has been good most games. Doesn't move the needle for me a lot for what to do with him the next 5 years. Yet.

Love that Connor is playing well and showing more effort defensively and part of a great PK. On top of leading the charge scoring for the best PP in the league 10 games in. When that's been maintained for 20 games or half a season I will absolutely look at him in a new light.

And nothing much has changed with Ehlers as he is doing what most thought he can do with full time top PP unit. The 5v5 stuff didn't change much from one game, but it's always nice to see our top line dominate.

This team is so similar in personnel and coaching system it really does feel to me like a continuation of last year. Every year is a new year, but I don't think of it that way when evaluating guys and forming an opinion. In my mind it's almost like game 98 of 2023-25

Looking like maybe the coaching transition to Arniel may be the right move at the right time. We can't keep up our torrid pace but if we keep getting better we are in for an amazing season.
Our PP play is far different and improved far beyond Ehlers. Much more movement by everyone.

I only caught the 2nd period so I don't have much good to say...
Ouch.
The first period was where it was at... as Damone said in Fast Times at Ridgemont High:

"Three. Act like wherever you are is the place to be."

I just scrolled through to find the your positive, uplifting post about the game last night. It's strangely absent. That said, you were very quick to post in the last PGT about Stanley lol

You're exactly the type of poster I'm talking about. You give me shit about complaining about negative posters, but then complain about me doing so. Ironic
Haha true

A long-standing issue is a long-standing issue regardless of W or L. Some of those may have gone away, at least temporarily. Maybe that's why we are winning. Others may be there just as much as before and we are winning in spite of them.

The Scheif/Connor pairing issue has gone away. It may come back at some point, in which case we will not be winning near as much. I hope it is gone for good. They have been outstanding so far and they are a big part of why we are winning.

The Stanley issue is still here. I'm not going to come into the PGT to bitch about it after a game like that. I just want to enjoy the win right now. Would you be happier if I was here complaining about it now?
What's the Stanley issue? Jets are 5-1 with Stanley, 4-0 with Fleury. Stanley has better goal differential and better penalty killing stats. So what's the issue? Some writer without any inside info, knowledge of the coaching systems or strategy, who never played in the show, has a beef?

Oh come on. You know what the issue is. It goes back 8 years.

In general he has been a little better last year and this year. Only a little. Barely an NHL player when he is at his best. His play against TML was atrocious.

How good is his penalty killing when he is in the box? Fleury was clearly better in his 4 games.

What?????
Only fans who have played in the NHL are allowed to observe? To form opinions?

Nobody said that. But there's a reason that broadcast panels have former pros on them and not "Frank from Transcona". They have insights into the game at that level that can provide context that we aren't privy to

Might be time to lock this one down if we are now implying Shane Hnidy has hockey insight...

Sure sounded like that is what he was saying.

Just curious. What have the experts been saying about the Stanley trade up, draft, loyalty for the last 8 years?
