Canucks fan take:

Rick Bowness is one of the best defensive coaches in the league. He has a top goalie. And they probably had their best game of the season against us. Plus they got some ref help. End of. Nothing to cry about here.

Jets always play this hard vs us. This is why I was so high on them in the playoffs in 2022/23

Thanks for the kind words. Definitely not our best game of the year. I think Canucks got off their's when things started to get physical.

Measuring stick game for both but not really a critical game. Great game to watch with a weed drink on a Saturday night with my son in bed though haha!

I have tickets for the March game in Vancouver so I'm extra excited for the rematch.

Canucks very much remind me of Nashville in their heyday. Not a super physical or strong team. But constantly aggressive so you always have to be on your toes. Lots of guys with high competitiveness. And obviously strong goaltending.

Really enjoyed tonight's game.

Nice goal, great fast passing, Vilardi had a very good game and nice to see Monahan score .

For the much maligned decision of doing csv, they really stepped up and had an extremely strong game despite the Vilardi backhand pass and connors disinterest in chasing Myers.

Also, I've had the night to sleep on it and I still say f*** THE CANUCKS AND f*** THEIR SHITTY FANS

While I'd say it was the best game since our 10 ish game swoon, it wasn't in the top 5 best games we've had this season.

We're still missing effective offensive play from at least half our forwards. Wedged we were really rolling all 4 lines were effective.

You can see why the Canucks are top in the nhl - all players look like they're bought in and very confident. However, you can see some of the play that has critics wondering if they can keep winning, especially heading into the playoffs. They have some defensive work to do.

How many dirty late and reverse hits were there? Or am I being a homer.

JT Miller elbow is a suspension worthy cheap shot
Yup, not sure why they were out for blood all of the sudden but it really showed the maturity of the Jets.

Out goalied, out coached, out hit, out played, out scored……poor Nucks and SN HNIC
It all worked out though, they might have died from dehydration from all the Canucks knob gobbling going on if they'd won.

I was impressed by Myers. He hit and looked more like a D then he did here.
I mean, he looked pretty good here too but we tend to see players warts and focus on them when they're here. Think Forbort.

Re-watching that embellishment penalty on Scheifele...yeah, it was definitely embellishment. The little jump scheifele does gave it away.
I agree, however, if that's 2 the elbow is 4 or 5

That was Tocchet hockey by the Canucks. I remember seeing him play on the edge like that when games heated up. The Canucks are a reflection of their coach. Just as the Jets are a reflection of theirs. This game defined that very well. My only worry is how many physical games like that Scheif can take before an injury comes into play again. He's a big boy, but hits add up and he was clearly targeted in this one. I was hugely impressed with the "take a hit to set up a goal" on Villardi's second of the game. That's the Scheif that will scare other teams.

I was impressed Chef didn’t get hurt last night. It puts other teams on notice, hit 55 and you’ll probably get punished on the scoreboard. Temperature wise, that felt like a playoff game.

It shouldn't have been an instigator penalty. DiG got in Lowry's face right away, but didn't drop his gloves until Lowry did. Bieksa showed it in the broadcast.

Lots of bad calls and non calls in that game I thought, for both teams.
46.11 Instigator - An instigator of an altercation shall be a player who by his actions or demeanor demonstrates any/some of the following criteria: distance traveled; gloves off first; first punch thrown; menacing attitude or posture; verbal instigation or threats; conduct in retaliation to a prior game (or season) incident; obvious retribution for a previous incident in the game or season.

Great game. Jets played well. Nice to see the powerplay get going.
You would think that with a game between two strong Canadian teams the NHL could have found 2 refs who know what the frick they were doing.

So what was Lowry supposed to do? Sit there and wait until the guy started smacking him around first? He was clearly in attack mode, and the obvious instigator, which Lowry recognized and therefore moved quickly to get the advantage in a fight that was obviously about to happen.

Thanks for this. No where does it say that gloves off first is the only criteria. Dumb take.

Whew. Slept pretty decent last night and actually managed to sleep in. Thanks, Jets, for giving me the adrenaline to stay up until 1AM. >_>

Anyways, the Jets did get outplayed last night 5v5. That's an area of concern. Vancouver plays a very high tempo game that the Jets couldn't match for whatever reason. Man, Quinn Hughes is a hell of a player. Wish we had someone like him on the back end. Hughes, Makar, Fox... Goddamn.

Yep. Morrissey doesn’t take over a game to the same level.
