It was really great seeing the second line (read: Ehlers) step up to have a pivotal role in a come from behind win. We're going to need more of that from him and the other two down the stretch and especially in the playoffs, we can't expect the first line to do all the scoring.
If Ehlers can show effectiveness and production when the games really matter, I'll be on the sign him at almost any cost team.
Last night was a perfect example of the impossible standard Stanley is now being held to. He had himself a really solid game, moving the puck well, solid defending. However some are so desperate to support their belief that he's just bad that they're blaming him from stopping a play on the pk from an elite forward. A play that defensemen have failed to stop, oh, a million times.
"He should have gotten down to block the pass"
Guaranteed if he did that and stutzle went around the top it would have been "why did Stanley go down, there?"
"Stanley should have covered two men!"
Yeah, ok.
Depending on the player, it's either a terrible play, or an excuse is made (e.g. if it was Heinola)
If Stan plays like that every night, I have no problem at all with him being our bottom pair LD.
As a matter of fact, I'm gonna stan for Stan.
