Well the boys get to go out on vacation with a stranglehold on the western conference.

Not the most even of efforts but let's give the Islanders some credit, they are fighting for their playoff lives right now and there was no quit in their game.

Helle was a bit uneven through 2 but came up big when needed in the third.

DeMelo and JoMo with a so/so effort.

Snerg and Pionk were both solid

Both top 6 lines were going tonight. Some ridiculous plays. Both lines can feel good about their games going into the break.

Third line was a bit off tonight

Heck of an effort by Iafallo on his goal.

Going to talk about Lambert individually tonight. First off, happy he got a point off a good defensive read. I thought he tracked back well and showed his speed and edge work at times.

Here is where my critique is though, he spent all game in the ozone wide on the perimeter. I'm not sure if it's a strength thing or he's not comfortable yet thing but he's not going to put up many points from those spots. There was one sequence in particular where he had the puck in the ozone and he had a step on the dmen and a partial lane to the net, and had he done even a small cut in would have had a quality scoring chance. Instead he elected to take the puck behind the net and then cut wide along the boards and got forced into making a low percentage pass for a turn over. In the first he cut wide around the edge and tried to force a long range shot from the blue line as the last man back that was almost picked off.

The kid is going to need to learn to play in the trenches and in traffic if he wants to produce. He's not near talented enough to dance along the perimeter.
For a long time @Whileee used to give great post game analysis, and you have stepped in surixon with your posts which I always look forward to.

I still haven't caught up on my sleep from the game on Tuesday night, as I nodded off sometime in the third period. Looks like I made the right choice as it sounds like they did not play very well. That second period was terrific with some amazing goals by the good guys! Eight wins in a row! As they say, they don't ask how you win, just how many you win (especially if you're a gambler). I give this game three "Eights" out of five...

The Prediction Contest for the game against the B-lose has been posted for your guesses. A big "High Five" to @SUX2BU for today's GDT, thanks for your help! Now it's two weeks or so without the Jets as I won't be watching the Four Nations tournament. Just wish HFBoards would have finished the update before we come back, but it will not be done until early March...

See you all in two weeks! Good night...

Game #5 for me, now 4-0-1.

Thought 1st period was sloppy. Samberg and Pionk had some difficult moments to start but settled in.

Isles were heavy on the boards.

2nd period came out flying. Top line delivered.

I like the way Arniel got 2nd line vs 4th to manufacture the go ahead goal.

Used their speed to attack a pretty suspect defense.

3rd period was not pretty. Some back puck management. Bad penalties.

Beauty block by Scheif with the game on the line. Even got some PK time.

Hellebuyck stole the show when it mattered most.

I saw Namestnikov and De Melo as underrated contributors tonight.

Appleton had a rough game with the puck.

From the moment Stanley let up on the big hit on his first shift to the end I thought he was off tonight. Miller was a lot more effective in his battles.

Game that Lowry's absence showed a little.

Nice way to go into the break.

Friday night games are the best, good crowd tonight. A few Nelson jerseys in the house went home disappointed.

I recall that play He had no business replacing Ford. He does not fit on a 4th line and is not NHL ready yet. I know the team as a whole was kind of off but why put him in a position to fail?
It’s a learning experience … I think it’s great how the Jets are rotating their rookies playing time in the big leagues. He made some good plays and the bad ones hopefully he learned from them

I thought Samberg and Pionk had a pretty tough night...lots of gaffes...but otherwise no huge complaints.

I’d like to know which of Vilardi’s goals didn’t register as a high danger chance. Naturalstattrick has them at 1-1 in the 2nd period…

yeah, samberg should have had an easy clear on the 2nd goal against but miss handled it and it stayed in the zone before the bad bounce off pionks skate, their 1st was rough

It's a learning experience. One play, one mistake that I'm sure he'll hear about. The kid can do some damage with his wheels. Just like Perfetti has to bulk up a bit for contact to get to the next level.

Glad Scotty gave him a game. Probably goes back to the Moose for the next 2 weeks with some confidence. Parker Ford too.
