As per usual, I fell asleep during the game, but I really didn't miss much, did I? Good that the Jets won on HNIC to quiet that Galley guy. Man he hates the Jets. I give this game three "Nick Hills" out of five...

The Prediction Contest for the game against the Baby Sharks (do do do do do do) 🎶 has been posted for your guesses. It's quite a close race with a three way tie for first place. Maybe those bonus question points will determine the winner? Still too early to think about that. Big "Thank You" to @SUX2BU who will be making the next GDT, we are all looking forward to it. A few days off, but a very late game on Tuesday. Hope to see you then (who am I kidding)! Now, off to bed on my Kern-Hill mattress. Good night...

Somewhere nice
How many empty net goals does the JETS so far have now this year?
They might shatter their own record.

The Winnipeg Jets scored the most empty-net goals by an NHL team in a season with 24 goals in 2023-24.

Here are some other NHL records for empty-net goals:
  • Most empty-net points in a season: Nikita Kucherov set the record with 14 points in a season.

  • Most career empty-net goals: Alex Ovechkin and Pavel Bure are tied for the most career empty-net goals in a season with 9 goals.

  • Most empty-net goals in a season at home: S. Reinhart holds the record for the most empty-net goals in a season at home.

TOP 10 with most empty net goals.

Habs aren't a well oiled machine like Vegas but they have talent. That's probably the jets B- game, saw the A+ game against Boston but it's been few and far between since the record setting streak. To be frank (don't call me frank) I don't really give a damn how the team performs until April. It's clear they are good enough to make the playoffs comfortably. My poor heart won't fully heal until they win at least one playoff round. This effort against the habs ain't it.

I reached out to @White Out 902 privately but I'd like to apologize to the rest of you (especially the MODs) for being such a dick in the GDT

Nobody loves coming into a GDT to see two guys going at it like that
Not my finest hour. I took it too far. I'm sorry the board had to deal with me and my BS, and to buff.

Maybe, but no coach would win with that team. Their best players are smurfs and really not that good.
Hutson and Caufield might be the worst defensive players at their positions in the league.

Then they have a bunch of disappointments like Dach, Newhook, Slafkovsky (he’s not bad but isn’t playing like a #1 pick) and over-the-hill/mediocre vets like Gallagher, Dvorak, Anderson, Savard, Matheson…AND a shitty goalie.

I feel for St. Louis if he loses his job with that kind of talent

That second line is humming, Chibrikov had a few grade A chances, as did Perfetti.

I didn't get a good replay of it, did Montembeault save that Perfetti chance on the 5 on 3 or did Perfetti miss the net?

EDIT nevermind that was a Connor chance.

Not at all surprised to see Blakie Wheels on a couple of these lists. P Mo gave him more empty net time than he gave Ehlers PP time.

Just perused the HFHabs PGT

Schief is living rent-free in a lot of heads over there

Sounds like the west coast swing is a "Moms' Trip"?

Maybe, but no coach would win with that team. Their best players are smurfs and really not that good.

Habs got up for the game, partly bc the media and coaches ripping them after quitting vs the Pens losing 9-2 in a humiliating lose. Plus the Habs always get up to play the Jets bc the Habs have been bad for many years now and see Jets & other better teams as a challenge. So Habs started well partly first 10 mins of the game and the Jets as they often have done in the past took the Habs as a night off to start the game.

The next 50 mins of the game the Jets were the better team for about 45 mins.

Helle was very solid (faced few high risk chances IMO and lots lower risk shots he will stop all day with good positioning), multi other players had solid games. Stanley looked so slow.

Hutson, typical game for him, gives the Habs offence but hurts them defensively, he was so bad defensively tonight they need to shelter him with a very good defensive partner once they want to actually win games. He doesn’t have a great shot, but good puck mover and passer……….not good defensively and horrible physically in front of the net and in the corners. He was responsible partly for one goal against just do to his poor positioning and weak physically couldn’t box out Lowry. Plus he lost multi other battles in the corners and general puck battles. Not my kind of player, screams PP specialist and player needing to be sheltered defensively. Sportsnet hyped him up all night, funny considering he didn’t have a good game, but it’s a Habs player so of course they do. Got to pander always to Leafs and Habs fans.

Never was a big Laine fan, but thought he had a decent Laine like game, aka offensive game, taking shots on net. Didn’t look like the very good old Laine shot, looks like his shot has lost something a bit but still above average of course.

You have to think Marty St. Louis is on the hot seat probably done at the end of the year
One never really knows behind the scenes what is going on but per the Montreal media (including a guest on WST yesterday) his seat is his for a long time yet. Apparently they really like him and hope he continue to coach for a long time yet

But it’s Montreal and it’s an O6 market one never really knows how long leashes are in those markets
