Jets are the highest scoring team in the league and you guys are complaining about the lack of scoring from the other lines?
Correct me if I'm wrong but the new second line was on the ice for the winning goal right?
I think the new lines are working out just fine right now ... they are getting their scoring chances and they are not giving up goals.
Perfetti must have broken a few mirrors ... the kid just has bad luck. I think if he shot the puck at an open net it would hit something just before going in and defect wide. Perfetti improved defensive game and that's a good thing. I bet if he was cheating and scoring a few goals but giving up goals people would be whining about his defensive play like they did for years with Scheifele and Connor.

I'm old enough to remember when the first line wasn't dominant enough

People will always find something to complain about

Your top line starting the year with trash shot metrics and 2-9 in GF (after being absolutely garbage across all the shot metrics and rocking a 46% goal share last season) was probably worth complaining about, even with a winning record.

But since that rough start, their shot metrics are vastly improved (they are outright dominating in the high danger areas) and have a 66% goal share.

People should check their crystal balls before they complain, I guess... :sarcasm:

I think in terms of the eye test, Ehlers has been much improved since they moved him to Lowry's line. He does a lot of memorable things out there.

Perfetti's line been getting some good chances, but he's not flashy like Ehlers.

And it's a pretty small sample so far...
Totally agree, when it comes to the eye test Ehlers will always stand out more than 90% of the league.

That doesn't mean he is more effective or has been playing better. Plays like the giveaway last night as the last man that created a HD opportunity for the Kraken also stand out and that is why Ehlers is so polarizing.

It also looks to me that since the line change Nik's work rate has elevated and his penchant for solo dashes and wild plays has diminished and I think it is because he has taken the move to heart.

Still think we should give barron a shot at 3C before we put names back... id legit rest names until we have another injury
Listening to his interview I think Kupari understands his role with the Jets. It's a defensive zone role. Get him back on the 4th line and you have that speed with him and Barron that was part of the early season push from the 4th line.. Put Appleton on that line and that's 3 players you can trust defensively, maybe can play up to 10 minutes a night and contribute zone time. Gives Lowry more o-zone draws if they play in the other end of the rink. Namestnikov I don't think lost his spot, it's just reconfigured now to give the better center more minutes. With Nino instead of Ehlers, it's a different look, Niedrreiter is the guy carrying this line.

It hasn't been tried yet but I'd like to see what Fleury and Heinola look like as a d pairing.

I still really like the Nino-Names-Ehlers line... but Lowry is looking really solid

I do think we have missed an opportunity to run Nino as our 2C or 3C though.

I think these games have proven that we don't need to spend a high scoring offensive 2C... we need a first line and three 'second lines'

Has Nino ever played centre?

I just was theorizing on why everyone's talking about Ehlers vs. Perfetti - it's probably because he's flashy.

Ehlers has always been high risk, higher reward.

I agree that he seems more into it with Lowry's line for whatever reason. Maybe he just needed a change to give him a kick. I'm not seeing any fewer solo dashes though - he had a few last night and I think in both of the last two games he's had an early solo rush in the first to get things going.

But whatever the case, everyone's playing better...

There's probably a new linemate bump going on as you noted. But I think we need far more gp to make any conclusions. I don't see Iafallo as much of a top 6er tbh that can help produce and drive the offense. especially vs the better teams.

Vancouver is in absolute disarray and turmoil, and Seattle is not a good team.

I think part of the solo dashes that were so apparent in the previous 2nd line is that perfetti and names may have trouble keeping up or finding the shooting spots

Definitely a small sample against weak opponents on a relatively restful home stand...but encouraging signs.

1. Don't complain
OR
2. Look at more than just those numbers before you do complain

It's one thing to complain about how a line is playing, but it's another to criticize the coaching staff for line combinations (while insinuating you know better) and to suggest that that's the problem

Arniel had faith in those three playing together. Posters on here complaining ablut them did not. We all know now who was right and who was wrong. You'd think that the people who were wrong would learn from that, but that's not the case

I hear what your saying and can see the validity in it.
My concern is standing pat because things are looking good now, we are at the top of the league and we are leading the league in goals.
Last season, many "experts" in the media and on here, predicted the Jets best matchup in the playoffs was the Avs. We were "looking good" going into playoffs. We saw what happened. Our low GAA was destroyed, our D was walked and we did not have an answer to the Avs attack.
The majority of our scoring has come from our top line. For sure, opponents will slow them down come playoffs.
We have had many games where we don't score alot of goals. We then have a bunch of games where we pile on with 5 or more goals, many times against teams at the end of a road trip or weaker teams. My concern is when we face a tough opponent come playoffs who score 3 or more, we will depend on our top line to do the majority of scoring.
I would be in favour of giving up some future if we could acquire a top 6 experienced forward with 2-3 years of term. And also acquiring a bigger, experienced D on the back end.

I guess by that logic we shouldn't have complained about Brad Lauer and the powerplay last year as well - like we knew better...

Maybe we'll never learn! :sarcasm:

Ya, alot of us knew better than Lauer.
His PP was trying to fit a square peg into a round spot. Over and over.

I have no idea why people complain when a team is winning its so silly.
The highest scoring team in the league that plays defence first and people are mentioning they need more offence from certain lines.
The Jets are 21-0-1 when they outshoot their opponents.:thumbu:
Seriously when I'm watching the Jets I enjoy watching the 3rd and 4th lines and love how the majority of the time they dominate and that's when you know you have a good depth team.

You'd think that the difference between systems/tactics and and line combinations would be self evident...

But if you need the W that badly, take.it

Because some people need to complain. It's who they are

A little hypocritical. Complaining about people who voice an opinion you disagree with.

I really make sure I just enjoy this ride because it’s fleeting in sports.

Having said that, it’s human nature to look at ways to improve even further. Every improvement will get us closer to the Stanley Cup.

Well said.
I am so pumped how they are playing. I've been a fan since I was a kid in the WHA.
A tweak or two might help out.
I can't imagine what kind of party it would be if the Jets were to go all the way.
