Post-Game Talk: Jets 2 - Kraken 1

This has been a great home stand, 4 -1 -2, now for the cherry on top against the Flames
You mean the cowboy hat on top. The Jets are not dominating every game but finding ways to win. The schedule is about to get tougher again with games almost every second night until the break. When does Helle get a break?

Jets win with 27 seconds left. 10 minutes of Leafs talk afterwards.
They had 12 minutes of should the leafs have been booked at home and can Nylander wear a shirt when interviewed

SO... Have to admit the script is different from previous years. Didn't actually get the feeling this one was going to end bad. Nice to be on the other end of the last minute goal. These guys may be for real. And yeah, Connor and Ehlers are doing more than figure skating these days.

Typical Jets move would be putting Apple back with Lowry and Nino but I think the current configuration has been too good to ignore. Don't see any reason why Appleton and Namestnikov can't take Gustafsson and Toninato's spots. Maybe swap Vladdy and Kupari but I think we stick with the top six as it is.
Still think we should give barron a shot at 3C before we put names back... id legit rest names until we have another injury

Why call it a typical Jets move? Arniel has only been the head coach for 1/2 a season and seems to have a different vision for his lines than past coaches.

Even if we do go back to the same lines it's not like we were losing many games or getting outplayed very often.Arneil is doing a fantastic job in his first year as coach.

I didn’t initially love the hire as assistant since I thought it was always a Trojan horse play. I did like how Scott worked out as an assistant and although I wanted us to be a bit more aggressive with our head coach hire after Bones I did say at the time that I would keep an open mind and give Scott a chance. I did really like what I was hearing in his off season interviews as he was assembling his team.

Nothing could have been better for Scott and his staff than to get off to such a great start. Also having the leagues #1 PP does more than take heat off the coaching staff it validates Scott’s hires. Nice to see a guy that was cast off to the head coaching wilderness get his second shot and make the most of it.

Honestly this couldn’t have worked out much better at this point.

Lovely stuff, Ehlers with a ton of chances born of hard work.

Daccord always seems to have the Jets number, but this was a great win.

I missed half of the game, had a family hoedown to attend...

I furtively was watching my phone when the Guardian of the Family averted her gaze. :)
Yeah looks like Lowry was the unlock for Ehlers. That pair was made for each other. The team isn't sacrificing much in terms of chances against with that line either because Ehlers works very hard defensively.

I'd still like to get a legit 2C with some size and speed for Nik so we can have 3 really strong lines. The line with Perfetti Kupari and Niederrater is strong but I just don't see it scoring much.

I don't want to go into a scenario where all our opponent has to do in the postseason is shut down the top line - we need to have threats on multiple lines.

When deMelo scored I had an accident in my pants
When he scored something happened in my pants but it was no accident.

Will be interesting if Heinola is moose bound after fleury and Miller come back next game.
He's waiver eligible, no?

I was driving home with a car full of family listening quietly to CJOB and when I heard the siren call i.e., Ehlers to Demelo - he SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORES, I nearly took the Accord into the ditch.
Accord - Daccord? THE ACCORD??? I think you are the reason we won!

Maybe they put Appleton with 17 and 27 and drop IA to the third line with Perfetti and Nino - give Perfetti some reps at C with a more direct line... umm line. You know that Lowry and Appleton play well off each other, as do Nino and IA.

It's way easier to look at an upgrade for a 3c scoring line than a 2c, I don't mind the idea of keeping Lowry and Ehlers together. Don't want to get ahead of myself but it feels like that is exactly the kind of line needed to help Ehlers shine in playoff hockey.

Agreed with your comments, as usual. The pairing of Lowry and Ehlers is either fortuitous or a stroke of genius by Mr. Scott. I hope Scotty doesn't blow up this line anytime soon.

I think its a good contingency plan but my idea leverages the things that Lowry has/ does and layers on a bit more scoring touch. The C we should go after has size and speed. No small task I know

Connor-Scheifele-Vilardi
Ehlers-Lowry-Iafallo
Perfetti-Kupari-Nino
Barron-Namestnikov-Appleton

That looks pretty good to me! Some grit and offensive potential on each line.

I'd like to see a bit more of this 2nd line prior to saying it's the answer or what not.
However, I think you can get by with either Lowry or even Namestnikov at 2c if you have an offensive catalyst on the other wing. Perfetti wasn't that, and that's why imo that line wasn't consistent offensively. Also easier to find a winger than center.

Some are asking if we are over using Helle and it could really become a concern as the year goes on but the last few games have been well spaced and not overly taxing on him that being said I see Comrie between the pipes for either Calgary or Utah's game.

Honestly it's not like Helly is facing 40 shots every game, hell he's not facing 30 shots a game. I'm not worried at all about him being tired.
Some Helly stats......_
1st in the NHL in wins with 28
Best goals against average in the NHL at 1.97
1st in save percentage at .929
