just got home from the game

man Saddledome is pretty quiet compared to MTS! Even at the start of the game before the Jets started to own

Anyways, had A BLAST sat next to some great Jets fans, real classy guys

Flames fans I ran into tonight were all nice guys too no issues

Nice to see the Jets finally beat Calgary!

Loved watching all the Jets fans in the Saddledome.

Did anyone there catch the fight in the stands?

Saddledome was packed with Jets fans! Was super awesome. Lots of Go Jets Go chants after the game.

Fight happened a ways from me, saw a clearly drunk Jets fan escorted by some cops. Other than that, no idea what happened.

Great game. Have my April game tix ready too. Sad we didn't get a 6th goal in there :D

Just saw that there was a fight in the stands after the Ottawa - Montreal game too. What a bunch of bozos. If you can't keep your emotions in check, do everyone a favour and seek help or don't go out in public if you're drunk.

Coach Maurice - Assessment of the game. How important is this early success to getting the team to buy in? Time out early in the 3rd period. Thoughts on rookies Scheifele & Trouba. Tough to gauge his team’s strength when up against a team like the Flames? Puck movement.

Here is Scheifele's scoring so far this season:

He only had a .909 sv% tonight and 1 of them was kinda weak.

If Pavs only lets in one weak goal a game or just two goals a game, I'll take that any day.

BTW, I don't agree that it was a weak goal at all. Thought Pavs had to fight for position with two players in his crease, and Giordano just ripped a perfect top corner shot.

I wouldn't really bring up Pavs after this game. We won, he let in 2 goals big deal. Thing is though the Flames literally didn't show up for 90% of the game and had no pressure, and that's why his save % was so bad. He only let in 2 goals, but the Flames has Zero offence for the majority of the game so... ya. In fact I'd say this game is a great example of why Pavs is a fail as a goaltender in this league. Some great saves and some soft goals. Sums him up nicely; but we won and he was a part of it so no complaints from me.

Hope for a big W in Edmonton. We'll probably see Pavs in the again and I'm fine with that. I'd like to see Monty start one of the games next week though.

So this is obviously an exponentially increasing mathematical function, right?

That's sure what it looks like.

So he finishes the year with, what, 100? :sarcasm:

I suggest you go read the thread on Price after the 5-4 win by the Habs tonite. Price had a .909 S%, and yet Hab fans are saying he completely stole the game from the Sens. In fact, some think it was possibly his best game of the year and he made what could be the save of the year.

Stats can be deceiving unless you are completely aware of all the variables.

And just to add, IMO Pavs made a couple of brilliant saves when the game was still 4-1 and the Flames pushing hard.

SV% in just one game is pretty worthless. I think back to that graphic where the SV% by shot type varies wildly, with the most difficult ones having a league average of .650 up to .950; for one given game, I'm sure a sample size of 20 shots (when you need thousands to get a significant result) are worse than worthless. You could categorize each shot, determine the net +/- SD to get an idea how good that game was.

Fact is though, even if Pavs lets in that 4-2 goal, the Jets are still a monster favourite to win the game.

I really hope that we take it to the oilers on Saturday. I was at the game at Rexhall on Dec 23, it was a train wreck of a game and very frustrating. Things I want to see on Saturday,

- a lop sided win for us
- Gazic getting his ass kicked by Peluso
- someone catch hall with his head down
- and would love to see yakupov get drilled as well.

My wishes and thoughts

TL;DR: Score lots, beat them up.

I could go for that :D

Beauty by the Troubanator.

Good game, third could have been better, but these past 2 games have been the most excited I've been for Jets games in a decent while. I'm actually shouting again when we score!

Keep up the improved play Jets. :handclap:

Yeah, but Price also made 40 saves in that game. Exactly double the amount that Pavs made.

That was a sweet sweet move by Troubs there.

Good game. We all know Calgary is a crappy team. I am well aware that we can't get too excited here - after all, I listened to Adam Wazny on the post game show. NOBODY could be excited after listening to that guy! But its also worth noting that as bad as Calgary is right now, they are exactly the sort of team the Jets have come out flat against and lost to on many notable occasions over the past couple seasons.

Heres a nice difference - The Jets looked like the Noel-Jets at the start of the third for a couple minutes and then BOOM! Time-out. Now our friend Wazny was careful to mention that Noel called time-outs too. I beg to differ. He did call a time-out in one of his last games as coach (to which the Jets famously failed to respond) but as far as I can recall, that is almost the only time he did. After all those terrible games, all those periods of the Jets scrambling around in the D zone for minutes at a time...he almost never called a TO to try and settle things down. Frankly, the way this season has gone, I'd say he could have called one every game.

the remainder of the third wasn't perfect, of course. But Trouba did pot one and we did have one or two really good shifts that ate a fair bit of time. We didn't spend the entire period trapped in our zone scrambling like lunatics. Yeah, Calgary scored a couple...but if the Jets had gone into the third down 4 and scored a couple we would have called them "garbage-time goals" right?

Its only 2 games against weak opposition but its a hell of a lot better than what was happening before so I'm gonna enjoy it. Screw you Adam Wazny! :yo:
