In no way should Hunt be near the top 9 but you guys are right he makes a very good 4th liner. The one shift he had in the third all over the dman in the d zone was just picture perfect for the playoffs. Like a rabid dog
That play he made in the first, when behind the net he faked it around, then pulled it back to his left was really underrated.

Someone in the team's media department should have the Daniel Cormier / Khabib Nurmagomedov conversation with Igor.

Khabib has spoken about how he used to always rely on translators when dealing with the media until his friend (and former UFC champion) Daniel Cormier told him his English was fine as is and people would find him more interesting and engaging even with him speaking imperfect English rather than via a translator. If you look at mid to late career Khabib he basically completely stopped using English translators despite admitting to Russian media even after he retired he still wasn't fully confident in his English.

I'm not criticizing Igor here or anyone else that opts to use translators. I just feel we may be losing out on so much of these players' personalities due to misplaced but understandable self-consciousness over not speaking perfect English. Like Igor is clearly hilarious but it just doesn't come through as much as it should except in moments like that where he breaks free of the translator.
hockey teams dont want their players to have personality though.

I think this is more relevant to Panarin for 2 reasons. First, Panarin's been in the US a lot longer, his English should be good enough at this point. Second, he seems to have more personality than Igor.

I'm taking away two stars from K' Andre Miller that I previously given him. What a horrible performance. He needs to buy Shesty dinner for a whole month. 4 times he let a Jet beat him one on one in this game. And each time for a great quality chance. Miller should not only buy Shesty dinner, but shine his shoes also.

Amazing Shesty came away with the shutout. He gets all 3 stars tonight. Great performance.

This is just what we need heading into the playoffs. A goalie standing on his head.

He's gotten so much better in not getting beat like he was last year. I really hope it's just a one off game for a young player and not a rut that he'll be in.

It was Miller's first bad game in a long while. It happens.

Gauthier literally cannot be worse than Reaves. Reaves isn't fast or defensively useful. I'd be perfectly happy running Gauthier on the 4th line and just let him play 8 minutes a night being large and quick. Couple of partial breakaways.
Maybe he draws a penalty. I doubt this happens though

Story of the season - start decent, dark abyss of a 2nd period, strong finish.

That being said, the last 3 games have followed this trend but still we came out with 3 shutouts in a row. Tonight Igor bailed the team out of several grade A scoring chances against, but still felt the defense was tight for a large portion of the game. This team(overall) is playing stingy hockey in the D zone and has long stretches of even strength domination in the offensive zone. That’s a recipe for playoff success.

Yea. When Kakko comes back I hope to see him on a line w Laf and Chytil so that Hunt, Rooney, and Goodrow can put that kind of pressure on consistently.

is there a playoff schedule out there anywhere or are they seriously waiting for all the matchups to be set? it needs to be May 2nd/3rd ASAP.
No kidding, but it's finally 2 weeks away. Knowing this team would be in 6 weeks ago with the pieces added, it's been painfully long.

Once they decided the Pens weren't on their level, it's been tough to get into every single game. All the games before that felt like they were still trying to prove themselves.

This team is now proven IMO. The 26th is the final tune-up. Those last two games are likely meaningless unless it really is to clinch 1st.

This wasn't just a bad game. It was the worst performance I've seen of a defenseman, in a very long time. Allowing guys to beat you cleanly should never happen. There are no Connor McDavids on this team. And it didn't happen once but 4 times. 3 for breakaways and a high-quality chance for 40 goal scorer, Kyle Connor. This doesn't even include his whiff on a pass that led to another high-quality chance. I wouldn't be surprised if Gallant gives Miller a day off to rest.

This makes Shesty's performance that much more unreal. Cause you know for a fact, if Georgie was in net, 3 of those would have gone for goals.

I mean honestly, what is the job of a D-man? If not to allow the attacker free access to the net? That is his main job. And he failed miserably over and over and over again. He wasn't an NHL caliber D-man tonight. My baby sister could have defended better, waving her little dolly. Well, she certainly couldn't have looked any worse.

The kid needs a day off. He's not sharp and is probably tired. He's never played this many games before.

The take from PLD. Interesting to see their perspective.

It's really such a pleasure to watch and so underrated. It must help the forwards and d big time knowing your goalie can control the puck and make a simple pass or even an extraordinary one.
And don't think for a second it doesn't back off teams when they watch how he's going to corral a puck and make a play.

He hits tape on the opposite blueline on the reg.

cheers man!
