Great result.
Some lazy defense in 2nd and 3rd. I think this is the kind of game where we needed to be more physical. Throw more hits.
Good game for Shesty's confidence.
Fox doing some foxy things tonight.
Breadman is an amazing skater with the puck. Amazing balance and quickness in change of direction. Incredible to watch at times.

That’s wrong. We’re still in 2nd. We lose the tie breaker.

Tie-Breaking Procedure

If two or more clubs are tied in points during the regular season, the standing of the clubs is determined in the following order:

  1. The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
  2. The greater number of games won, excluding games won in Overtime or by Shootout (i.e., "Regulation Wins"). This figure is reflected in the RW column.

That's goals against average. We've allowed the same as Carolina but probably played more minutes in OT since that stat is per 60.

First time since 1973 we've shutout three straight opponents. That's great and sad at the same time.

Why is it sad? It's not a super easy accomplishment. I think Hank's only had back to back shutout like twice in his career (one time in games 6 and 7 in the playoffs). I think Shesterkin has already done it three times.

Someone in the team's media department should have the Daniel Cormier / Khabib Nurmagomedov conversation with Igor.

Khabib has spoken about how he used to always rely on translators when dealing with the media until his friend (and former UFC champion) Daniel Cormier told him his English was fine as is and people would find him more interesting and engaging even with him speaking imperfect English rather than via a translator. If you look at mid to late career Khabib he basically completely stopped using English translators despite admitting to Russian media even after he retired he still wasn't fully confident in his English.

I'm not criticizing Igor here or anyone else that opts to use translators. I just feel we may be losing out on so much of these players' personalities due to misplaced but understandable self-consciousness over not speaking perfect English. Like Igor is clearly hilarious but it just doesn't come through as much as it should except in moments like that where he breaks free of the translator.
