Stars would have to align to find a swap for Wallstedt.

In theory, his value is around a player like Connor Geekie/Noah Ostlund. If a team really likes Wallstedt a riser like Kulich. But goalies are voodoo, and the teams desperate for goalies are usually the ones that are already in contention (New Jersey/Edmonton) and won't have the assets you're looking for.

Goalies don't have a ton of value in general, unless we're talking a Vasi or Shesterkin type. Even then, their value pales in comparison to a D or C at that same ability level. That's why you usually don't take goalies in the first round. It's just not good value.

You don't take goalies in the first round because they are largely voodoo. But you don't tend to find that out until they start getting paid in the AHL/NHL. The bust rate is higher and the development rate longer.

There is no way to judge a what a good to great starter gets in a trade, because they almost never get traded.
