Injury Report: Jesper Fast retires

He was a solid but not spectacular player. Guy could play anywhere in the lineup and make others better because he was so defensively responsible. Made the little plays that went unnoticed.

2015 playoffs vs Washington, down 3 games to one and Derek Stepan set up McDonagh to win in OT. Play was set up by Fast intercepting a pass and making the play to Stepan.

Game 7 of that series, again in overtime: Stepan wins it on a rebound from a Girardi blast. It was Fast week dug out the face off and got it to Yandle on the boards who passed out Girardi for the aforementioned blast.

Good luck in retirement Jesper.

A player who so strongly represented the country club atmosphere of this organization that he permitted the entire organization, media, and fanbase to spell his name incorrectly throughout his entire career. Whatever happened to attention to detail?

Who was it that REFUSED to spell his name as Fast and would write Fasth every post. Glad he left the Rangers just for that.

I was at this game. Kreider tied it with 2 mins left with Hank on his way to the bench. Didn’t think I’d ever scream so loudly again in my life until McD scored that OT winner.

Fast was a really good playoff performer for 2015-2017. He even had a few moments in the 2014 run.

I met him at a signing in 2015. Really nice guy.

Who are they?
Boyle, Prust, Fast were all fine bottom sixers over the last decade+. JT Miller was a third liner for a good part of his first tenure here. Oscar Lindberg was very good as the 3C in his short time here. John Mitchell was turned into an NHL player. Colin Blackwell is still kicking. Edstrom/Rempe/Berard are all NHL players, two of those three are bottom sixers and one has upside to maybe become a third wheel sidekick of a second line (Berard).

I'm not going to include Howden or Lemieux in this list.
