it's so lazy singling out the goalie. No matter who it is. Is he having a bad year, you betcha. So is 99% of the team.
The difference is that when a goalie has a bad game, they're down 2 goals. when a forward has a bad game, you barely notice it. This team, even before the deadline, was crap. They let teams have a picnic in their zone. They have a welcome matt strewn across their blue line.
I think a new coach (and hopefully GM) and healthy D will help everyone next year.

I don't think people would be nearly as hard on Swayman if he he didn't hold out because he thought he "deserved" elite starter money. It's not a good look to hold out, demand a higher contract, miss training camp and play net like he's playing dodgeball. If you're holding out, you better live up to it.

Completely blows my mind how many posters on here still vehemently defend Swayman. Would people think differently if his GAA was 4, 5, 6? At what point is the criticism valid for these people?

Nobody is defending Sway's play this season. He has been awful. i haven't seen anyone defend his play.

The people who "defend" him say they believe he can be the player he showed as an amateur, and in his previous seasons in Boston, and that if he does go back to that he is a top 5 goaltender in the game in the future, and it would be a foolish decision to give him away (and potentially as suggested by some pay to give him away)

But your stars still need to be stars. Pasta hasn’t sucked has he? And McAvoy was at least mediocre.

Swayman is a sieve this year. It’s fair to place a lot of blame on him. He put his checkbook above the team and has been lousy all year. Obviously he deserves a fresh start next year but as of today, he deserves a lot of blame for this year too. He has done nothing to cover for their issues and that’s what he insisted he be paid to do.

That is a flaw in Sweeneys style, wait, wait, and wait some more, you know you need to make the move but he waits to long, he just traded two players, he knew he was moving and waited, and they got hurt and that lowered their value. I would not wait to move Swayman, and I don't give a shit if he goes somewhere else and wins the Vezina, I do want risk another shit season like and possibly seven more seasons of subpar goaltending. If goes to do well somewhere, you all can call me out over I don't give a shit.. I am not Swayman soft.

No, the difference is in this instance this man held out, did not attend training camp, demanded and received an elite level contract and then promptly fell flat on his face with both his attitude and play.

They do have to make a decision on DiPietro, and it is quit possible they already have.

Giving him 5 games at the NHL level could have make that decision.

That said if they are planning on resigning him, giving him 5 games at the NHL level, could make him slightly more marketable in UFA

Add Zadorov's comments to the list of 'interesting' comments regarding Swayman.
The others that come to mind are both from Marchand about how "he doesn't negotiate deals in public" and him "not feeling bad about Swayman being left in games." (paraphrasing)

All comments in a vacuum can be interpreted one way or another, but lumped together feel like there could be something there? In my mind, when 'happy accidents' seem to point in the same direction, there's usually something behind it.

I'm not sure if we'll find out if there is a rift in the room over Swayman, but if there is Sweeney has a big decision to make and should make it fast before they're stuck with him (NMC July 1st).

If the team had played better defensively in front of him that contract negotiation isn't even being talked about. Instead posters are still up in arms that somehow one players contract negotiation set the table for the awful season we are witnessing, like the Bruins dressing room is a bunch of petty children and not a room full of grown-ass men.

This team absolutely sucks defensively. That's it. That's what got this snowball rolling downhill. Nothing else.

i certainly hope any decisions on Swayman are made on hockey decisions, and not because someone is *** hurt because he held out of camp last year, or because someone made a comment someone didn't like

this and his overall play is just off, he doesn't battle anymore, he's quit on the season. He might even have moments that looks like he wants to battle, but then he lets in a bad goal and all his drive is gone.
