  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Not concerned in the slightest until the team in front of him is better.

New coach and a healthy D next season should do wonders.

Would like to see him make more saves, but would also like to see the D not be absolute swiss cheese on most nights.

I watch plenty of games over the course of the season and I don’t know if any team gives up more unearned grade A chances than the Bruins.

Just braindead miscue after braindead miscue, plenty of times on the same shift.

Goalie should be better, but with the team in front of him I’m not making any long term predictions at this point or calling him a “loser”.

It’s clear some posters here are lost in their emotions with reactions like that.

I'm finding Sway's passive-aggressive on-ice antics tiresome and he has clearly checked out as much as anybody, or else his head is otherwise messed up, but you're absolutely right. The reality is this season is a wash. Almost everybody has been bad or average at best, and Sway is no different. He hasn't played above the team in front of him, but nor has he been any worse. And now that the full tank is on it's impossible to judge anything he or anyone else does at the moment or to read too much into it.

Next season will be his make or break. Same goes for Elias Lindholm. They can dust themselves off, hopefully get rid of the distractions of injuries, negotiations etc., have a good preseason and start afresh, hopefully on a better performing roster. Then we will see if they can play up to their contracts or not.

Sway's lost a lot of trust and respect in Boston and I do think that's largely understandable, even if some of the reactions are over the top or premature. But it's on him to win that trust back and if you're any sort of rational fan you can really only hope that he does, because it's going to get real ugly and painful for the Bruins if he doesn't.

Tough year but expect huge bounce back

He’s been very successful before and anyone who’s been successful understands failure and the lessons provided good abs bad are sources used to improve

If they trade him it better be for another young high end goalie

Getting 25 & 27 back, Marshy back in the room, fresh start

Do you mean 73? 25 ain't coming back.(Thankfully)

85th in saves above expected, is that good?

I honestly haven’t really evaluated him the last month or so, we’re toast and he’s working with Zadorov (as much as I love him) and Jokiharju as his two top defenseman so it’s not gonna be pretty

Thought he was brutal to start the year, decent enough in the middle, and now brutal again I guess

What made Cheevers great was that he was unpredictable. He did not fall into a certain pattern when protecting the net especially when cutting down the angle.
Tim Thomas, Gilles Gilbert and Andy Moog as well. Loved those guys.🥰

Swaymans lateral movement is horrible. He goes down way to easily especially on breakaways and get your ass out of the net already...get above the paint!!

After all the player movement at the deadline Korpisalo stepped up , just given up 9 in his last 4 games.
Last 4 games Swayman has given up 20 goals.

While Korpisalo body language tells us he's going to give us a chance to win ....Swayman has a " ya ... we're going to lose" look after giving up a first goal .

The Cheevers, Thomas's and Haseks of the hockey world very rarely make the NHL anymore. Goaltending is such a technically taught position, that can't just rely on athleticism anymore. Nor is that what scouts look for

My advice to Swayman.

1) Write off this year as a very very lucrative year -- but one that consisted of shitty goalkeeping.
2) Work your ass off on your game this season and get your shit together.
3) Before next season starts issue a humble "my play last year was garbage, my teammates deserve better, management and ownership committed to me and they deserve better, the fans deserve better, and I'm singularly focused on producing better".

A little humility will act as a reset, get everyone on his side, and give him room to produce. As others have noted, he has the talent.

However, if he doesn't do something like #3 above he's going to have to deliver immediately next season or fans will get on him quick.

I wish people would sit back and understand that a huge part of goaltending is the team in front of them. The Bruins defense blows. Their offense blows. Therefore, they spend a huge percentage of the game DEFENDING. They never have the puck and barely have any offensive zone time or shots on net. The team in front of Swayman maybe the worst in the NHL right now. No goalie is going excel in this situation. Go watch an NHL star game where no one plays defense and those all star goalies look like Swiss cheese.

He’s had a catastrophic year. No other way to put it.

Having said that it is all magnified with D like this.

Just failure all around.

Very true, Swayman is not alone in this.

That clip is ugly. And impressive.

And for me, why Sacco and entire coaching staff has to go. Peeke, Lohrie, Lindholm and Geekie are not ECHL players. For them to be set up and playing like that in game 65 (or wherever we are in this looooong season) is a fundamental breakdown and unacceptable. And fixable. Why it's still happening at this point in the season is a question for coaching staff.

Those goalies in the all star games tend to half ass it though because it's just a game for show and doesn't really mean anything in the end.

Well maybe management, should not have spent all their cap space, on a goaltender.

The Stanley Cup Champions spend 11.36% on their goalie. Bruins allocated 9.38% to their goalie.
So what you are saying the Bruins picked the wrong goalie, or the team in front of him is just awesome but are overpaid and under performed.

Or maybe just like everyone associated with the team other than Pasta (and a couple of others), he is just having the season from Hell. I have no idea how an entire team falls apart, but it happens sometimes, and it did this year for this team

Joel, I have been thinking the same, I have seen teams decline slowly, teams have a sub-par year, but this year I am sure there are examples out there, but I have never seen such a decline at such a rapid pace. I think they only won 3 games in their last 18 games, they are just two years removed from a record setting season.

Completely blows my mind how many posters on here still vehemently defend Swayman. Would people think differently if his GAA was 4, 5, 6? At what point is the criticism valid for these people?
Most over rated goalie to date to wear the spoked B.
He’s proven nothing and was handsomely paid by the Organization.Who believe that he’ll become a player worth the contract, they gave him. I sure hope their right!

The team in front of him is probably the worst in the NHL at this point. Name another roster in the NHL right now that you wouldn't trade for.
