One could make the argument that we're beating a dead horse here.

So be it. Discuss, if you so choose. We'll keep all the Swayman talk contained to this thread.

If you have nothing meaningful to contribute to the conversation, move along.

We will not have this devolve into thread hijacking and flaming of other posters.

@Gee Wally

We have numerous deletions and more in here. We know tension and emotions are high.
But you folks must simply stop taking personal shots at each. Stay to topic.

If not we will be left with no choice other than adding thread bans.

HF retirement home
even if this thing does a 180 and swayman signs 8x8 tomorrow...does anyone think this guy retires as a bruin?
seems like the writing is on the wall. over/under on him getting traded is probably 3 years, although i guess his
trade protection could muck that up.

Athletic has it 46.4 Neely, 39.1 neither, 14.5 Gross on who is telling the truth

56.7 feel Neely and Sweeney can close the deal, 43.3 say no.

I guess once you check things outside a fanclub board things can change
Meaning 85.5% decided to choose Neely or Neither rather than Gross. Or straight out 46.4 Neely truthful vs. 14.5 Gross truthful.

I don’t know but that’s at least reasonably on par with B’s fans in HF posts.

Overall I’d say people across the spectrum aren’t too high on Gross.

Players that hire him must like him.

Maybe swayman wants to sit for a while. Wouldn’t be the first gross client that did.

I've posted it before, but here it is again.

If the contract is for more than one year, the cap is higher in the first year, but lower in the remaining years.

In this example, if he were to sign a contract at 8 X 8 this is his cap hit on the days he could sign in October after the season begins:

This is what it would look like if Swayman were to lose money from a year 1 $8M salary by signing later in the year and missing days from the start of the NHL season. For example, he would only be paid ~$62.9M in actual money (not $64M) over 8 years if he signed on Oct 30 from your table above.

Is that how you understand it as well?

Well can't imagine swayman actions are a big motivation for fans who just want the cup. Dude is ruining himself for greed
Guessing the team buffoon should have made the 8x8 offer in private.

No thanks. He'll come in cold and not ready for hockey. If he was a skilled center or winger ok but a goalie who benefits from a system. Nah
How come Ullmark didn't benefit from the system in the play-offs?
