I can’t recall the last time we heard a Boston athlete whine to the media for over a year that his feelings were hurt about the criticisms of his team during a contract negotiation/ arbitration.

And more crying/complaints continue to surface as time goes on. It's like an infinite well of tears.

Stop acting like if you had a salary negotiation with your employer and they turned every possible thing they could into a negative to justify paying you less that in the next negotiation you'd hold no grudge and happily accept whatever they offered you and wouldn't push for all the pay you could.

And no, him being a pro athlete doesnt make it different. At the end of the day its just an employee/employer dispute

What's the time limit on whining about what happened in an arbitration hearing? I'm hoping it's a year so in 10 or so days we can be spared this bullshit.

Swayman didn't like arbitration -- I get it, and can sympathize. However, what happened in arbitration has ZERO to do with this negotiation unless to suggest that the Bruins should pay a penalty on this contract for being big meanies who said mean things a year ago.

In all sincerity, if Swayman was my friend I'd be telling him to stop with this shit. It makes him look like a massive whiner - plus it's f***ing tone deaf. World's an ugly place right now and Jeremy has rich white man problems. And I wouldn't say that to him not to be mean but to help a friend stop doing something that is not good for him.

Is the compensation on all offer sheets based on the total money divided by 5 seasons? Or is that only for deals that exceed five?

For example, if Detroit signed Swayman to a one-year $15 million deal today, would the compensation be based on an AAV of 3 or 15?

Yeah, how many times have we heard the term "bulletin board material" and welcome it as a motivator? Shouldn't change just because his own team provided the material.

That said, I wish he would get over it in not bringing it up to media over and over - we already know it hurt his feelings, seems like posturing to bring it up again, keep it to yourself and let it motivate you

No. Bruins would just trade his rights. As an RFA he can talk to any team first , agree on a contract in principle and see if Bruins can work out a trade.

No. Bruins would just trade his rights. As an RFA he can talk to any team first , agree on a contract in principle and see if Bruins can work out a trade.

At the end of the day he is looking at 50+ million for a few years to play a game.

Out of touch with reality with the crying in the media. Keep it to himself is the wiser plan. Be offended and motivated all he wants but appealing to fans and media as a victim deserves to be ridiculed.

Thats the way to do it if a contract is agreed to in advance. But doesnt mean the Bruins cant also just flat out trade his rights to any team now and let that team deal with his demands.
