One could make the argument that we're beating a dead horse here.

So be it. Discuss, if you so choose. We'll keep all the Swayman talk contained to this thread.

If you have nothing meaningful to contribute to the conversation, move along.

We will not have this devolve into thread hijacking and flaming of other posters.

@Gee Wally

We have numerous deletions and more in here. We know tension and emotions are high.
But you folks must simply stop taking personal shots at each. Stay to topic.

If not we will be left with no choice other than adding thread bans.

This is encouraging. I don't want to have to sell his 4 rookie cards (in a Bruins uniform) at a loss, LOL.

Seriously though - with $7.8M of cap space, I also wonder how they can get a guy like Tyler Johnson under contract. Have to figure that he'd get at least $1M.
The $7.8M on Puck Pedia includes Patrick Brown at $800k. And two goalies (Bussi and Patera) at $775k each.

Put Johnson in for Brown. Even if it's $1M (it would be less), that's now $7.6M. Take away $1.55M as Swayman replaces those two goalies. We're at $9.15M.

If Johnson gets league minimum - as most PTOs end up getting - it's another $250k. so $9.4M.

This in a nutshell is what's wrong with the team today. Worrying about paying bottom of the roster stiffs and washed dudes on PTOs instead of taking care of players that are their future. At no point in this world should signing Tyler f***ing Johnson impact anything regarding the Swayman deal.

Going from Ullmark \Swayman to Korpisalo\Patera\Bussi in one off season can't happen or heads should roll.

Shades of Bergeron/Krejci to Coyle/Zacha.

This is why you don't overpay/overspend on backups/down the lineup players like Korpisalo, Zadorov, and Peeke. Overpaying stars isn't a big deal. Overpaying secondary players is what kills you.

Leafs fans can tell you that the inverse can be just as bad. Bad contracts are bad contracts and can come back to bite you.

It doesn't though. Just someone who didn't dive in deep enough on the salary situation.

They weren't necessarily wrong, but to be fair, it was a small sample size. To his credit, he changed the narrative the following postseason.

did you start thinking about trade offers from columbus at all? they might be the only team that can do something now
from a financial perspective and from a need standpoint. and they have some pretty sweet young pieces.

but i still think it's very unlikely - just a crap time to make a trade.
Hell yah
Me and Lou and Eric already been texting/talking what we want back

We all got Kent Johnson

Arya Stark kept a list too...didn't end well for those on it

I'd like to point out once again that Jeremy Swayman responded to an arbitration hearing that personally upset him by performing as a world-class professional. It didn't impact his play. It actually motivated him to play the best hockey of his career.

Isn't that what the best athletes always do? They use people questioning them as motivation to prove them wrong rather than wallow?

Even if someone thinks he's being a "baby" about arbitration on the ice he responded like a f***ing man.
