One could make the argument that we're beating a dead horse here.

So be it. Discuss, if you so choose. We'll keep all the Swayman talk contained to this thread.

If you have nothing meaningful to contribute to the conversation, move along.

We will not have this devolve into thread hijacking and flaming of other posters.

@Gee Wally

We have numerous deletions and more in here. We know tension and emotions are high.
But you folks must simply stop taking personal shots at each. Stay to topic.

If not we will be left with no choice other than adding thread bans.

Not that it matters as I'm just a fan but I'm tired of this. I liked Swayman but seeing he's still whining about his feelings in arbitration is just too much. Get over it. He claims he's educated himself and understands the "business" so he should realize that was just "business" and his "feelings" are not "business".
Bruins showed him they wanted him as their #1 and they have a very generous offer on the table so that's it, End it. Sign or go away.
If I'm the Bruins I tell him 8x8 final offer. Take it or leave it and then I'm dropping that offer each day he holds out. Time to move on.
I saw a Gauthier and Gibson trade proposal on twitter. I'd take it. I'd take something different. I want this over so we can just get back to hockey.

Athletes make mistakes all the time.

As a Syracuse fan it pains me Oshae Brisset opted out on the Celtics. He has no deal still. Could have spend the summer in the sun. Celebrate a title. Get something bigger next year.

Instead him and Swayman are like the guys asking for change outside 7-11. Not in terms of net worth. But yeah in terms of being an annoyance Sway is basically that.

Bruins rarely have players of that pay scale which makes the Swayman thing odd.
You gotta be happy

No trade request

Swayman is vengeful but backed it up with a list

Maybe a Winter Soldier mask with his list on the side~ that would be outstanding if Swayman put his arbitration list on his mask

Basically would be up there with Cheevers mask

The hockey world continues to await Jeremy Swayman's next move in his contract standoff with the Boston Bruins.

On Monday, Bruins president Cam Neely alluded to his club making a $64-million offer to the Swayman camp, something the goaltender's agent subsequently denied. Both sides are reportedly taking several days as a cooling-off period.

The Hockey News' Michael DeRosa cited Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli reports the Bruins' actual offer to Swayman was slightly less than what Neely hinted at, claiming it was around $62.4 million, or an average annual value of $7.8 million over eight seasons.

The Athletic's Fluto Shinzawa believes the ball is now in Swayman's court. He noted the netminder tends to be thin-skinned, suggesting this could take longer to resolve if the young netminder takes his bosses' recent actions personally.

Shinzawa also mentioned the possibility of a trade but indicated that doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen. He believes the Bruins will set a high asking price for Swayman, plus the acquiring club would still have to sign him.

New Jersey Hockey Now's James Nichols suggests the Devils should look into trading for Swayman, despite their off-season acquisition of Jacob Markstrom from the Calgary Flames. He points to their interest in Yaroslav Askarov before his trade to the Nashville Predators in August.

Askarov, however, is a promising young goalie who would've been affordable to acquire and sign. The cost of acquiring and signing Swayman would be well outside the Devils' comfort zone.

DeRosa suggested the Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche and Utah Hockey Club as possible trade destinations for Swayman if the Bruins peddle him

THANKS DOM!!!! - Now i am going to be awake for about 9 days until i get this to work in my head!

need to subscribe to read the article.

the math is making my brain hurt because its not a simple take the contract and divide by the days left to get the change in amount and then divide that change over the last 7 years and reduce it evenly.

I love trades but 48 hours passed and all is quiet

They can offer 66 M and agent can take victory lap

He can at presser say Swayman pushed to play here try and rebuild lost goodwill

Sweeney doesn’t give two shits who likes or dislikes gets his goalie

Swayman gets compensated well

Lessons learned

You really don’t want to go to arbitration is a big takeaway ~ words can destroy if they come from places we respect/love

In hindsight they probably should have caved but it’s the bonus overages and buyouts that backed them into a corner

Wrong - Pasta is a top 5 forward the only 60 goal winger since OV did it what 16 years ago?
McAvoy - over paid. I agree .
I don't think McAvoy is over paid, would I have liked to see him come in a little less of course, but overall I think he is where he should be. Having shoulder surgery has not helped him, and I do not hate Gryzlyck, but I think not having him as a partner will help his game.

He’s as hard as nails labor leader and isnt afraid to battle.
I just hope there is no stoppage of play from either side, just not needed at this time.

Yeah, Pasta, McAvoy, Marchand, Bergeron, etc. either took a hometown discount, or got paid what they are actually worth, and didn't whine about the process to the press. Very, very easy indeed.

Which is why you claiming Sweeney has a history of being antagonistic towards core players is absurd.
Throw shit out see what sticks not at you but pia

If Sway wants to go full vengeance he could get Ulf Samuelsson on the left side of his mask and Claude Lemieux on the right.

Cap hit years 2 through 8 = (First year salary X (season days remaining / 192) + contract value remaining) / contract years

First year’s cap hit = above answer X (192 / season days remaining)

My calculation is based on a salary of $8 million in each year.

They can play around with the salaries in each year to adjust the cap hit.

That's what Evan Gold is there for.

Rounding up makes you a liar. For shame.
Athletic has it 46.4 Neely, 39.1 neither, 14.5 Gross on who is telling the truth

56.7 feel Neely and Sweeney can close the deal, 43.3 say no.

I guess once you check things outside a fanclub board things can change

But isn't it the fans that both side should care about?

What do either side care of some rando's from Utah's opinion. This is a battle for the Bruins fan approval both sides should care about.

why -

well from the management side that is who buys tickets and supports the team

from the Sway side - thats who will either support him as a player and cheer him on or tear him a new a-hole every time he lets in a goal. As a player that can't be a very fun situation to play in

I guess if you want to be in an echo chamber.

This Swayman thing is the same mentality here as the refereeing,,,the goalposts just always move....Gross fed Chiclets a bunch of stuff to make the Bruins look bad.....well yeah after the 10mil per season rumor the Bruins fed Keefe.... Gross is lying about the 64 mil dollar offer Cam wouldn't lie....what is that you say? It was 60 mil according to EF and 62.5 mil according to Servalli, Oh well Cam was just rounding up.....
