What is the value of Jeff Petry 4 years $6.2 mil

Habs retain $2 mil for next 4 years making his salary $4.2 mil.

1st round pick and top prospect?
Might be a bit too much , ok for the first rd pick but not a top prospect , maybe a B prospect or a late 2nd pick

I love all the crazies who think a rough start to the season while clearly injured discounts all his previous body of work and think he's suddenly worthless. Never change.

He's 34, it's not crazy to assume his game fell off a cliff like plenty of others before him (Vlasic, Seabrook, Subban, etc.).

Think his value is at best similar to Subban when he was traded to the Devils.

The guy is injured and has been improving every year up to now. I don't think he's suddenly fallen off a cliff.

Yup. They clearly haven't watch. The guy still skates like the wind.

He isn’t as bad as other teams fans are saying, but he isn’t as good as MRL fans think either.

If the price point is the same for Chiarot and Petry who do you take?

petry no hesitation
Not even close lmao
That was my point in the comparison, because Petry as $4.25 adn Chariot at $3.5 is in what i consider a similar price point. In this thread they can't give away Petry retained because other teams fans think he sucks and yet in the Chariot thread other teams fans are offering a second and prospect for Chariot. This is plain silly.

If Petry was offered out with 2 million retained there would be a line up for him. The price would still be sane but there would be competition to get him.

Something's clearly wrong with Petry this season.

He was still considered an early Norris candidate while having a career year not later than the month of March. This complete drop in just a few months is surreal.

It's pretty obvious that he was playing injured. And now he's finally taking time off. Teams know this. So pretty sure his current play doesn't affect his value too much.

Unless he has some personal problems that we're not aware of.

This

While it's far from unheard of, players don't usually go from being award caliber players to forgetting how to play hockey in the span of what, six months? Petry has to be playing through something. At this point, the Habs have no reason to bother trying to trade him. Nobody will offer anything worthwhile with how dreadful his season has been. Better to see how he plays next year.
