What is the value of Jeff Petry 4 years $6.2 mil

Habs retain $2 mil for next 4 years making his salary $4.2 mil.

1st round pick and top prospect?

Replace the 1st with Kassian and the top prospect with future considerations and I'm all for it.

M’eh then the Oilers would also have to move one of Barrie or Ceci. Now if just feels like shuffling deck chairs

With Bouchard's emergence I'm all for moving Barrie personally. Even with how bad Petry has been thus far this season I'd still take him over Barrie if the deals make sense.

More like late 2nd or 3rd and a toss-in prospect. Jeff Petry is an NHL defenseman. But that's about all I can grant him.

Based on his play, not a lot.

Based on GMs love players that did something 2+ years ago, he'd easily get a 1st plus a good prospect.

Something's clearly wrong with Petry this season.

He was still considered an early Norris candidate while having a career year not later than the month of March. This complete drop in just a few months is surreal.

It's pretty obvious that he was playing injured. And now he's finally taking time off. Teams know this. So pretty sure his current play doesn't affect his value too much.

Unless he has some personal problems that we're not aware of.

Yeah that's what i'm thinking. And - it's not 2+ years ago, it's last year. I suspect some GMs still think his value is high. Probably not wrong, very good chance he can rebound to full effect, but of course it doesn't look good to trade for a player when he's at his worst

He's played like shit since the day the Habs hired Ducharme as HC. It just clearly isn't a match on any level.

this is possible but until petry comes back and proves himself his value has taken a dive especially due to age and term

Petry (retained to 4M) and Poehling

Why would they do that trade? Gotta add a pick or something to at least make it somewhat fair

Personally, I think his drop off in play has a lot to do with Weber not being on the ice, helping take some of the load off him. But Montreal fans would know better.

Minimum 1st and 3rd round pick for him.
I think his value is still good enough to have a little bit more than a 1st and a 3rd but all depend how he will react at his injury return.
If he play bad hockey his value will decrease quickly and of he play very well his value will up grade a lot.

I see why you'd want to buy low but you're not getting a D that got 42 points in 55 games last year @ 4.25 mil for cap dumps. GM will pay up. The whole team has been garbage this year and he's injured.

HFboards won't change. Just like we needed to add a first and top prospect to Pacioretty for a 32 year old Jeff Carter at the time.
