new york will always be an attractive place for high end players to play, that will always help the team in some form or another.

i like the slow patient approach new york is taking. wouldn't surprise me to see them fighting for a playoff spot as soon as next season.

This is deflecting. It was a bad pick. Whether players picked after are the second coming of Crobsy or not is irrelevant. When you go far off the board at #7, you better get it right.

Gorton's work as GM is a mixed bag so far, even if you factor in this offseason.

Some very good decisions, and some very bad decisions. It's also still the offseason, and we were one of the worst teams in the league last season. Until we are a consistent Cup Contender, I think its too early to claim he's an expert GM.

It's been an offseason of making headlines, but in-season headlines are a lot more important than offseason headlines. You can't judge the results until we see what happens on the ice.

Chara was all Chiarelli, even if they couldnt officially say it because of Ottawa not releasing him.

No interim GM is getting the ok to spend 19% of the cap on 1 player when the new GM is already hired...especially one working for Jacobs

Your genius GM barely squeezed a single cup out of the best years of Crosby and Malkin.

I don't really fear what he's going to be able to put together with lesser players, especially after seeing the direction hes taking your roster (Small, fast and soft doesn't win in the playoffs).

Thats great we are talking about Chytil and Andersson being comparable to Zacha and Mcleod (you brought them up not me)

id rather have trouba for 8x8 signed from ages 25-33 than subban at 3x9 from ages 30-33. subban's deal will be up just in time for when you guys need to give hughes a mega deal.

I'd much rather have Trouba than PK right now. Rangers are still 2 years away, at least, and by that time PK will be nearing the end of the contract and in a decline (if hes not already).

And did the Rangers give up more than the Devils did in their respective trades? The Rangers gave up pick #20, the Devils pick #34 and another 2nd in next years draft. The value there is pretty split, maybe in favor of the 2nds depending on where that pick lands next year.

Pionk and Santini are both garbage, Davies (I'm a big fan of) might be more valuable than both of them.

Devils essentially gave up the same value for an older, declining defenseman as the Rangers did for Trouba...

Don't get me wrong, I think the trade is a good move for the Devils but they aren't getting prime Subban.

There is a reason why Nashville let him go and it isn't entirely salary related. They could have created that space by doing other things if they really wanted to keep him.

The Senators didn't give Chia permission to interact with the Bruins. He sat at the Senators draft table AFTER he was hired by the Bruins.

What you said is logical. I think the team once said that Chia laid out a whole plan during his interviews that presumably included what he would do in free agency.

That may have been a cover for backroom conversations that took place, but either way makes sense that Chia was behind a lot of it.
