When you cheat in rhe O zone avoiding physical contact, you get caught with your meat flapping in the air, turn overs and doubly bad position for your D. Not a leader.
The second I saw him try to make some shit pass through traffic on the 4v4 I knew it was coming back the other way. Jones will get blamed and probably benched for that play. Mika should never be allowed to do anything other than shoot or send the puck down low to nobody. Just too risky for him to try playmaking for zero possible reward

He plays on average 55 games per season.
At 12.5 that the equivalent of giving a skater 16.6 million over 82 games.
The current highest paid skater in the league is making 14 million per.
Is Igor 19% more valuable to a team than:
Leon Drasiasatl
Austin Matthews
Nathan MacKinnon
Connor McDavid
?
TOI almost x2 more

What a terrible effort after being challenged by management. It’s like they are hoping that Drury is bluffing and calling him on it. I’m hoping he does have something planned because this team needs major changes.

The defensive zone play is as bad as I’ve ever seen. They seem to be near opposing players and in the vicinity of proper position, but the opposing team always seems to be able to pass the puck to high danger areas and get shots through. They aren’t actually impeding the other team at all. They’re just there.

The only bright spots were Cuylle, Kakko at center, Berard, and Jones had some nice flashes of play.

The rest of the team was abysmal. The usual suspects gave us more of the same. And Lafreniere and Trocheck are playing too much like Panarin. The line worked when they would do the things that Panarin doesn’t do. But now all three of them want to hang around the perimeter and look to thread the needle with a perfect pass. If he’s healthy, I would put Chytil back on that line to get some straight ahead play out of them.

Honestly, you guys looked really good against Vancouver a few games back, so what exactly is going on in New York right now?

On paper, the Rangers look amazing, you have talent, and basically every single position, as someone who does not watch New York Rangers often, what’s the issue right now?

Vancouver had the most passive defensive system that this team had seen in some time. For the first two periods in particular, the Canucks looked content to cede the outside and focus on protecting the house. So the Rangers had time and space to make plays and pick the defense apart. They have that kind of skill. But if you put any kind of pressure on them, they fold.

i don't wanna trade bread. He's a real hockey player.
That line needs to be better. I haven't been happy with Lafs game for the most part since signing the contract, but it's difficult to call him out when you have Panarin basically playing the perimeter, as if somebody just drew a border around the rink and told him to stay in his lane.

Mika had a rough game. Trouba and Lindgren were brutal, as they are every night.

Time to take Mika off of PP1. His performance on the first goal against is inexcusable. Weak ass pass to Trouba that arrives like a grenade, which Trouba unsurprisingly fumbles then falls, then Mika doesn’t even cover his man in the slot.

Mika's never been a very physical player but he's never not used his body as little as he has this year......and it's really weird in a way. It's like we're watching a player carrying guilt around him every time he steps on the ice. He has to know he's f***ing up and costing us games....almost like he's having both a mental and physical breakdown in front of our eyes and it doesn't appear to me it's something he's going to play his way out of. He needs off ice help and the Rangers need to stop playing him like pronto. The coaching staff need to take him aside and take him off the ice until he's mentally ready to compete whether that's a month from now or next year.

I'm starting to join some people here in wondering whether the Trouba debacle this summer didn't screw up this team. I don't blame Drury for wanting to move him and I don't know if he was to blame but his wife's situation getting dragged into the story was classless. As others have pointed out the team made him their captain. Also, having your #1 C playing like he is ain't helping. I hope some of the young guys take advantage of the situation.

I know +/- isn't really something to rely on, but Mika is -13 while Kakko leads the team with a +13. kind of mind-blowing but also let's you know how well that third line is actually playing compared to the rest of the team.

that said, time to get rid of the garbage. can't have your 1C playing like ass constantly, and your captain "setting the tone" by playing like shit.

Hey folks. My “day” started with the orderlies fetching me right on puck drop. Had my angio, a couple hours in recovery and then a lengthy discussion with my cardiologist (I have a cardiologist now). I didn’t have my phone or iPad with me so didn’t know the score until I got rolled back to my room (my iPad is open to HF on the table).

They tell me I had a mild “cardiac event” yesterday.

After watching the highlights and reading every single line in the PGT I’ll hazard that I was better off missing the game today (that’s gonna be yesterday for you blokes by the time you read this).

There’s nothing more to add about the game that hasn’t been said.

I hope my recovery coincides with a similar uptick in performance from the team across the next few months.

And you buggers are gonna be putting up with me for a little longer as well, not quite ready to give up yet….on the team either! But something has to change.

The Row I Goon.

This core can't get it done. Just not good enough. Ran back mostly the same core guys from last year when they were totally outclassed by Florida and probably would've lost vs CAR had it not been for Kreider. Can't be too surprised by this result. Same core guys that we all knew couldn't get it done.

You're in a better place than this team right now LOL.
Listen to the docs, they will get you back on your feet right fine. Wake up calls are a blessing.

I typically tend to side with the players on these issues more often than not, but the one thing that is really starting to irk me with this group is this entrenched sense of entitlement for a group that hasn't won anything. It's reared its head in different forms since Quinn was coach, and it's coming back into full swing now. Other teams deal with more adversity and turnover than this group and they work through it.

If they want to stay together so badly, start putting in the effort and playing like it.

When players don’t respond the GM really has two choices. Change the coach or change the players.

Considering how little player turnover there has been, and how we've jumped between now two fully credentialed NHL coaches, you have to assume the latter will be part of the new tactic.

But it really shows a lack of foresight that Drury is trying this now, in the middle of the season. Maybe the market will open up as more teams learn more about themselves, but the timing is super odd to try to revamp the roster.

Lindgren and Trouba on for 3 GA, Zibanejad on for 4. same old pieces of shit.

coaches keep trotting them on out there though. Lindgren and Trouba should be on waivers tomorrow.
That's the part most confusing-Why not give the payers that are having a good game more ice time?

So the young 20 year olds are able to handle the business side of the league but the vets get butt hurt? The goal is to win a championship not make friends.

We need Professor Cuylle to teach the rest of the team how to score 5v5.
