Plus, Vegas is a heavy, big sized team — the type that Habs usually struggle against. Probably something management will look to address further, to ensure a more optimized asset mix.
Yes Sir,
When players like Dach and Slaf are not winning puck battles finishing checks or scoring it makes it even worse.
Our small guys have to ramp up their intesity to near post season level to be successful and it ain't happeneing in an 82 game regular season.
Nothing has changed for decades the very good teams can beat us "Comfortably".

This season we are witnessing a lack of desire to put forth the energy required to stay in games.
Marty squeezed the lemon too early the lemonade is now bitter.
Pushing for culture before the talent was present was dubious at best.
There were some of us who scoffed at the idea of building a winning culture without winning players.

There is a lack of soul in this franchise right now. Which is why I've always been very critical of "EA Sports rebuilds".

Players are not lines of stats. They're human beings, and subject to the same biases as any other human being.

Being stuck in a losing environment, with next to no relevant veteran leadership to drive them through rough periods, is a recipe for disaster.

Something has to happen. And I think it starts with getting a proper NHL coach. Too bad we missed the train on Montgomery.

The whole conceit of MSL, Lecavalier, and the gang joining the Habs was to ensure there was a Winning Culture here. What happened?

Lecavalier spends 99% of his time in Florida.
And MSL is less than 10 years removed from being a player. Which makes him wayyy more likely to have a player-first perspective behind the bench. It has its pros, but recently we're seeing a lot of the cons. No imputability whatsoever.

When Habs were losing in the past, there was almost as many pages after the game than during the game on this board.

Fans here are throwing the towel ?

No, I think this is just common in rebuilds, there's a bit of fan fatigue in this meaty middle.

The excitement of selling the assets off for futures is pretty much gone since we've already depleted that well for the most part.

There's a lull between when those drafted prospects can reasonably develop and make a NHL impact.

Next year you'll have Demidov and Reinbacher at minimum debuting, maybe even a Martone/Misa.. that will jazz the fan base up a bit more, we'll also see guys like Slaf with another year under their belts and taking another step.
