Well then clearly Jagr is a moron and doesn't know anything about hockey because HF knows Pete is awful.. A comment like "We would have won if Eric Gelinas was given more ice time to develop" or "Why the hell was Adam Larsson in the AHL?" would have shown some intelligence :sarcasm:

Jagr: "Pete is awful coachingman. Salvador stink. Volchenkov stink. Martyowns joke not funnies. We need heavily more teenagers to make perfect Stanley Cup."

as it should be. He's great and I am glad to have him back, but there is a very finite amount of NHL caliber playing time left in him.

Exactly.

Jagr is basically playing NHL hockey on a year-to-year basis until he can't go anymore.

If he does as well(or better) next season like he did this past season, he'll be back again for yet another year.

Jagr was quoted as saying Pete was a "perfect" coach. LAWD

He's the only coach who gave him HEAVY MINUTES.

Of course he'd say he was the perfect coach.

One year deal for Jaromir Jagr with the Devils. Value is between 5 and 6 million dollars depending on bonuses. #tvasports

Nice !! The Bonus stuff is great... If he gets it we pay him... if not we dont

Sounds like a very reasonable deal, especially considering how he played last year and the type of player he is.

Well for once we re-sign our most important UFA before July 1. Next up making decisions on the D and how that impacts our forward core.

And can we not make this thread about Pete? It's about Jagr's signing, which is significant enough. There are plenty of threads to debate Pete.

Pete was only mentioned because Jagr stated that he had the "Perfect Coach" which ruffled some feathers here.

According to Jagr's agent, Petr Svoboda, the deal is very close and the Devils will make the official announcement.

The people commenting about it weren't the ones who had their feathers ruffled by the quote, they had their feathers ruffled by the HF criticism of Pete :sarcasm:

Just don't think the debate's needed here.

Ya I thought that was pretty funny.

Glad he's back but I hope Lou is not depending on him putting up 67 points this year.

God, this rules. Hopefully Jagr can sway a top guy to sign here.

Or at least he got assurances by Lou there will be a top guy coming in. Since Jagr said at one point missing the playoffs would influence his decision on staying or going (though that proved not to be the case).

Pete's puck possession system fits Jagr at this point of his career perfectly.

I think Playing-Time may have turned out to be more of a factor than just making the playoffs. :dunno:

He was a different player back then. Remember how pouty and unlikeable he was in Washington?

yeah but he was a money hound just 2 years ago, available to the highest bidder. now he's signing months before UFA with new jersey, of all places. we're a good influence on the guy, methinks

Well I think he was a legit leader with the Rangers.

But yeah he's been a merc in terms of contract dealings until now but you could argue there really isn't going to be much difference money-wise in terms of our offer and someone else's for next year. Maybe another team would give him a two-year deal, but he doesn't actually want one at this point anyway.
