Rumor: Jared McCann available?

From all I have read so far, Francis is open to moving McCann, Bjorkstrand or Schwartz. I doubt he moves more than one of them BUT the first 2 are likely to net the best return.

I also think he is likely to ask for a top prospect than picks which is much more likely to happen with McCann or Bjorkstrand.

What do we think his value would be compared to Gourde/Bjorkstrand? Do we think Seattle would be interested in a package deal?

Significantly more. Versatile 30 goal, 60 point guy in his prime signed at a solid AAV for the perfect length - 2.5 more years.

He won’t come cheap. It’s the ideal contract to have on a guy like him. Falls off after his age 30 season and the cap hit is extremely reasonable. That is a contract situation with added value.

There’s really no reason to trade him unless you are getting a significant piece back for your rebuild. This isn’t a “my 3 decent but not blue chip pieces for your under contract best forward” type of situation.

a package of McCann + Gourde would feed families for the Devils tbh

I know the ask would probably (rightfully) be Nemec, especially if Seattle isn't interested in picks.

Exactly my thought too. I cannot see (or hope anyway) Francis moves McCann for just picks. He would want a blue-chip prospect back for McCann.

Yeah. I really just don't see what Seattle gains by moving McCann. Unless it's for an absolute blue chip stud prospect with huge upside. Maybe one who can actually play Center more reliably? McCann is productive even without elite offensive catalyst linemates, versatile, and on an absolutely terrific contract. They could really use more McCanns, not less. Would seem like hopping on a bit of a treadmill, just hoping you get a player out of the deal who can eventually provide the sort of scoring punch McCann brings at a good cap hit.

The other guys mentioned make a lot more sense to me as prospective players for Seattle to deal. Even if they aren't likely to command the same sort of return.

Would love the Avs to target him, team needs more shooters. You can load up the first line offensively with McCann-MacKinnon-Necas, trial Necas at 2C with McCann as his wing, or pair Necas and McCann around a lesser 2C and see if they can carry them.

I like this guy, I think krakers will go to shit without him, he sure miss his ol bud eberski, but they dont seems to have plan for him much more, so that would be good for both

That'd be very dumb for Seattle to trade him. But based on what I've seen from the Kraken and read in this thread that the Kraken are basically ran by ownership not so much the GM.

I think Seattle could fetch five good assets for McCann considering his contract is on low term and if you were to retain 50% there's more room.

McCann, Bjorkstrand, Burakovsky...what's Seattle doing? They rebuilding or...?

I get Gourde with him being a UFA but these guys are on solid deals. I don't get why Francis would move them.

Feel like they're trying to compete while retooling but not mortgage the future.

Which usually ends up horribly or in no mans land, but they have a pretty decent prospect pool and a competitive team right now, so the jury is still out.

They got Kakko for essentially free which makes one of the vets expendable.

Call me when they actually trade any of those guys - things have not gone as desired so I bet a lot of this is seeing if they can get anything big for these guys ( that said the UFA will
Move for sure)
