Time for Cowen to get some games in and show he can be an impact defenceman. I'm excited to see him back in the lineup, hope his play does the talking.

Fun Jared Cowen fact.

Even stick manufacturers can't spell his name properly. I was at the Sens store at the Tanger outlets over the weekend and they had about a dozen "Cowan" sticks alongside "Cowen" ones.

Cowen just had such a good rookie season that he set the bar high on the expectations for the following two seasons. Then injury struck and here we are now. Cowen just needs to get his mind back up to speed and he will be fine out there. Besides Karlsson, Ceci he is the best young defender we have. He is better defensively than Ceci I believe. At this point of time he is better at least.

If ceci was worse than cowen defensively he would be in the AHL.

I dont get this at all. I realize Cowen wasnt great in his first few games but he certainly didnt deserve to be benched for this long, 1-2 games would have been sufficient.

I really hope he draws in the line up tonight....you can only learn so much from watching form the press box, the kid needs to play.

It all goes back to Maclean telling him that the young label is not applicable anymore

Cowen is a player management have put a lot of stock in and he has not responded in kind. He got a lot of rope last year and they are making sure he knows poor play won't be tolerated like it was last year.

He is in tonight.

Obviously you haven't heard of super star Jeff Cowan. His sticks usually move so fast that you don't get a chance to see them in store, and need to special order them.

The thing is, for him to go in, someone has to come out. Wiercioch was decent to good in his first couple games, but has been bad since. He may have gotten a bit more rope, but it's harder to make changes when the team is winning.

Hope the time he's spent with J Smith has done the trick; Cowen still could be a very effective player if he keeps it simple, and cleans up his reads.

Perhaps they wanted an extended stretch to work on things with Jason Smith before putting him back in the lineup to allow for improvements without forcing him in a pressure game situation? Just a thought, probably not a likely explanation but possible imo.

I disagree. For all the technical talk on Cowen (skating, turning, turnovers) what he really needs is to come back to the game with a nasty attitude and the want to be the physical presence of this team. That's why he was drafted and that's how he has to play.

Cowen was playing to be the next Joe Corvo, he needs to create an identity for himself that is physical - not 2 way. Start with this and let his game build into the game he wants to play which is more of a skating/skill game.

Expect Cowen to fight tonight, he needs to completely change his approach he started the season with and become mean again like he was in his rookie year

Probably the most solid game of his career...I hope he was being showcased..lol

Good effort

Now let's see if he can follow it up with another one

If he can maintain this and we get Methot back I think we are set

looked good, was he nursing a recovery problem.. this is why i hate when people jump on someone whose status we really dont know

Atta boy Cowen, good game in front of your dad, this could be the Apple Auto Glass Turning Point of the season. So much to build on, feel good about.

Not even close. His game vs Carolina 2 years ago was tenfolds better.

Also his game vs SJ 3 years ago where he played top pairing with Karlsson was the best I've ever seen Cowen play. He looked terrific against crazy good SJ offense.

Lead our team in TOI(more than Karlsson), 4 hits, 2 blocked shots, 23 minutes, 1 assists +1. He was phenomenal.

People forget how good Cowen was for us in second half of his rookie year. That's why a lot of fans still high on him... it's cause he's shown level of dominant play in the past... it's not like we have never seen it from him and we're hoping he develops it.
