I'm fine with keeping Bednar for one more run, but if Cooper or Sullivan shakes loose and we have another poor playoff performance, i'd be happy with a swap.

I'm not sure how you can continue to defend this shit day after day, month after month, year after year watching the team get worse, watching the players play worse, yet think they are blameless.

I don't think you're being accurate with what you're saying ET. I've called out many of the team's and player's problems over the years, when many disagreed, and have a pretty good track record of figuring out what was and wasn't actually the problem.

I've especially said how mistake prone this team is for a while now. Pretty sure I've been at the forefront of that opinion.

I said Bednar wasn't the problem years back, he's a very good coach, and his system can win a Cup, when many wanted him fired. I said Kadri wasn't the problem, he'd bounce back in a contract year, and be a key player, when many wanted him traded. I said Val would be welcomed back by his teammates, and still be a key player for them, when many wanted him shipped out while tarred and feathered. I said Landy would come back and play ok (still waiting but he's close). I've said Cale could be an all time great two way defenseman, when some thought he was too high risk, and a product of the AJHL.

I've said Mitts wasn't as good as people thought, and that he could regress after his contract year, the team wouldn't be able to sign him long term, and he could leave them with a similar problem at 2C. I've said Byram was better than people thought. I've said Toews play was concerning before many aside from Kingslayer agreed (Toews has been much better the last couple weeks). I said regularly that goaltending wasn't the only problem with the team, they were mistake prone. I've said Bednar over plays his stars, I think that is one thing he's guilty of, and it's contributed a bit to their struggles in some games like the Oilers (helped them win others).

I try to analyze what the actual problem with the team is, and because I've followed it pretty closely for a long time, and try not to get emotional about it, I have a pretty good track record. I never talk about myself this way here, I'm just bringing it up because it's relevant to what you said.

The problem with this team right now is they have one scoring line, and two NHL caliber defensive pairs, because they have the most injuries in the league, Mitts isn't as good as people thought, Colton's a 3rd liner playing 2nd line and his hot streak ended, LOC and Kiviranta are playing 2nd and 3rd line roles, they don't have enough cap space to ice an NHL caliber third pair before the deadline, and they've been missing their heart and should captain of a moody team for three years.

None of that is Bednar's fault and a new coach won't solve any of it either. A little more healthy, their captain back, and some deadline moves, could make everyone think completely different about this team, the way they thought completely different after all those other "problems" mentioned previously, after some time passed.

This place has a habit of getting too emotional about these things, but it takes a year for people to realize it. At least give it until the off season before calling for Bednar's head on a stick. He deserves that. Just my opinion, everyone else is welcome to theirs.

Where were you when I was on an island a while back saying the team is making mistakes AND getting bad goaltending? We wanted to blame ONE thing then too. It's never ONE thing.

Oh I was there saying exactly that. I got criticized for it too. Was constantly told that the team would magically start playing better once they had faith in their goaltender.

I blame Matt Sokolowski. Jesus christ, this guy came over with the Avs when they were the Nordiques !!!!

Anyways, my question is this - WHEN THE f*** is it Dallas's, Edmonton's, Minnesota's, Vegas's TURN TO HAVE TWO OR MORE top-6 forwards out of their lineup for an extended period of time??? WHEN???

I'm just not seeing this happen to any other team other than us AND it's been multiple years. WTF are they doing wrong???

Its the price you pay for getting to win the cup.

Dallas, Edmonton and Minnesota havent won in a long time. Vegas is the house so they decide the odds...

I'm starting to lean towards change. I don't hate Bednar nor do I think he lost the room. That said, we know what he can/can't do and I would simply like to see what this group of players could do with a different coach. But I would definitely wait until the summer and I have absolutely no idea who the new coach should be.

I wonder if MacFarland's position to Bednar is "Last year, I gave you a perfectly useful 2C. What the f*** did you do to him?"

I still don't believe that the Avs are going to shitcan Bednar though. And teams would line up to get him.
There were a lot of times last year that Mitts looked like he didn’t have the conditioning for Bednar’s system. It was easy to write off then that he’s just come from Buffalo and it should be better with a full offseason. He still doesn’t look like a guy who can keep up with the system.

Not sold we have the horses to play the system with any consistency anymore but it’s still on management that they got a guy who still looks slow and gassed a lot of the time. Mitts would likely look just fine (maybe even a good 2C) on a different team that played a slower game that fit his strengths more. You can still see there is a good playmaker there but he might as well be on a different planet from the rest of the team

I don't think Bednar has lost the room, he has just lost too many good players. The lineup right now is a complete joke.

If Casey doesn't have the conditioning or skating to play in this system then that's a Casey issue. I'm all about adjusting your system to fit your players but you have to be able to skate in today's NHL and conditioning is literally just asking the player to do his job. If that's too much of an ask for Casey then get him up out of here.
