Jared Bednar & Co. Discussion Thread

I know this is more of an extreme example because you still want your teams to actually try and make plays, but I can't imagine Bednar telling his team to go out there and wear the other teams down physically (even though he has the players who could do it).

Underwhelming news. Rangers made the smart choice locking up Sullivan before we played game 7. Wonder if this plays out differently if he’s available
Nah, we were never considered. Some quality reports came out that said Sullivan only wanted to stay in the East; so it was either Boston or New York.

Knew they would keep him. No accountability, which is a little surprising considering what happened with the Nuggets this year, and also with how soul crushing that loss was.

They got their one cup and they are good with it...

Good to know, now we don't have to be as invested anymore. If they don't care, why should we?
The did the bare minimum in firing Bennett to quell the anger this fanbase feels right now. He fell on the sword and became the scapegoat (and I mean, rightfully so. The PP was unacceptable), despite this series just being a microcosm of their many playoff failures since Bedsy took over.

Bitch ass move by management. Literally did the bare minimum

I'd fire MacFarland and clean house based on this decision alone. I hope I'm wrong, but if you're considering a coaching change there's almost no better time than right now. Many worthwhile candidates available.

Meanwhile we're back here after a 1st or 2nd round exit next year and finally they are forced to a more significant change. I don't get how being consistently outmatched by Deboer doesn't tell you your system has a huge weakness.

Sucks we’re keeping Pratt still when Tocchet has left Vancouver and bringing Foote home is a realistic option
Some people speculate that Foote and Tocchet are a package deal. And if not, Foote is a candidate for the Canucks HC job.

Honestly, I feel they are on their last rope due to Kroenke's lack of hockey knowledge. If this were basketball, and considering how much Josh knows about the sport, they would have been gone.

The real question is if the Avs fail again next year, does CMac go with them?

Firing Bennett was the right move. Pratt could have gone too, but for the most part the PP failed us more than anything else this year. Looking forward to see who we bring in and getting some freshness to our sometimes amazing, but mostly horrible PP.

I’m not as savvy as many on the boards - don’t intend to be but my 2 cents: despite a decimated injury-laden team into December and then the big moves and trades, bednar got the team through tough times and into the playoffs and came within 3 boneheaded plays advancing to the second round against a very talented Dallas team. Broken, misfits, very little time to gel and an atrocious power play system; and they did this. I’d give bednar some credit for that sh!t. Would like to see how he does with a more ‘usual’ group that gets time to gel, much less injured and has their captain back. If they can’t make magic after another year - sure; sunset. But I would insist on new special teams as that is one of the most glaring deficiencies of this team. Imho.

Cmac looks like he wants to kill himself. Poor guy... you put us in this situation. The fact that they're content with keeping Bednar really kills any enthusiasm I have for next year. Just ugly.

Was hoping for a wholesale change for the coaching staff… but Bednar has to be on the hot seat. Slow start or another first round exit and he’s done.
