He's allowed to. If he wanted to lay down and do snow angels he could. Benn had his numbers all the way in, that's on him to not launch him headfirst into the glass. I'd be fine if he was booted from the game tonight with no further discipline (which was probably the right call) but only a 2 minute minor? That's BS
yea. 2 minute minor for that. Same as accidentally flipping the puck over the glass. Ha!

Hit wouldn't have been so bad if Carlo didn't stop 3ft from the boards while Benn was already committed to the hit. This hit shouldn't have even been a penalty.
🤣

There was a slight twitch right before Benn hit him that i suspect he thought Carlo would be turning. Hard to stop a train on a dime.

Would honestly love to know what was going through Carlo's head there, on that play.

Puck rattling around the boards, Carlo knows full well that Jamie Benn is behind him, and Benn is no doubt expecting Carlo to cut behind the net and dish the puck off to Zadorov.

Why Carlo chose, instead, to just come to a complete stop, is beyond me.

Lesson learned, I guess, eh Brandon?

Twitter comments saying Carlo was "trying to reverse hit him" lmao?????????

People are braindead man.

This should be a multiple game suspension.
I totally agree, the hit by Benn was bad, inexcusable. I won't add a "but" here as I've learned that when you say but, everything you said before that is meaningless :)

What was Carlo thinking though? You don't skate down to get the puck and then stop 5 feet from the board with your back to the rest of the ice. That's not how you are taught to play and protect yourself. You skate all the way to the puck and be close enough to the boards and more upright to absorb contact and not get hurt.

We're getting a bunch of people screaming murder, whining and pretending Benn isn't a relevant player anymore because, as usual, they are reacting more based on a player's reputation than on actual facts.

The hit was penalized as it should. Zadorov also reacted like he should and all is fine!

Guess those same people are waking up today to a reality that includes the league not doling out anything close to a "multiple game suspension" for Benn's hit.

I sure hope they're okay.

Little surprised it was reversed to only a minor. Should have been a 5 and a game.. He saw numbers the whole way and extended through him, don't care if the guy slowed down, what else is he going to do crash into the boards himself?

If he got the 5 and game misconduct i'd say it was probably enough, since they reversed it i wouldn't be too surprised if the NHL hands him a game, but that would make the on ice refs look terrible.

You think those were Carlo's only two options?

Come to a quick and sudden stop, or skate straight into the boards at full speed? :help:

I mean, maybe, but I bet if we put our heads together we could think of something else he could've done in that situation.

We could probably think of a situation that doesn't include Benn pushing Carlo from behind into the boards at full speed too. Lets get together sometime and talk it over.

So both cars are going 80km … the car in front decides to break abruptly, causing the car behind him to hit him.

Are you blaming the second car then?

That'll teach Carlo to quit calling Benn a Mennonite. Rumor has it Benn can defy physics and come to a complete stop on ice at will if you don't call him that.

Yes. If you're driving close enough that you don't have time to brake, you're at fault. For the longest time Rear Enders were pretty much 100% the second car's fault.

But this doesn't relate to hockey in any way.

Carlo has turned into a scared as shit player. Charlie McAvoy is turning into the same player also.

Carlo slowed down 5 ' from boards, sticks his butt out, thinking the rules protect him. Benn gets annoyed and hits him. This is not the intent of the rule. Yet the same people will cry about it.

Yes. Actually.

That’s likely what most insurance companies decide on as well.

You made a dumb real world comparison and somehow still proved yourself wrong

Did I? Last I checked the major was downgraded to a minor, and no league penalty is coming out of the play, and it’s more than likely because Carlo decided to stop abruptly and put himself in that position with Benn trailing right behind him.
