Hope its just clearing the cap space for something else...
Not really thrilled about it, return isnt high enough in my opinion

Spaling does not have a contract. He's an RFA.

Hornqvist is signed for four more years at $4.25M per.

so Horny should be hopefully be good for 30 goals and 55ish points and Spaling is a centre who is going to have to play wing if there is any chance he gets close to 30 points.

Hornqvist is a former 30 goal scorer, scores his goals around the net, RHS, 27, locked up for 4 more years at 4.25 mil.

If we move Sutter as well, things get interesting.

that's great. We're gonna really be soaring with that extra 750k in cap space. Actually...not even. There's Spaling's cap hit as well..

We trade a legitamate 30-40 goal scorer with an amazing cap hit for a 20-25 goal scorer (at best) and a decent bottom sixer....

*sigh*

Neal was a 25 goal scorer pre Malkin though, i'm sure Hornqvist will put up 40 with Crosby and will be money on the PP. Still...what a BAD trade.

Such a needless move. There's no upshot here.

Neal wasn't old, he didn't have an albatross contract, we're actually adding cap space here and we gave up one of the best young scorers in hockey.

I feel like I should be angry like the rest of you. But for some reason I'm really not. I think Neal HAD to have requested a trade, kinda forced managements hand IMO.

I'm willing to bet that Hornqvist is not a 20-25 goal scorer at best with Sid or Geno, already hit 27 and 30 goals in his career with a poor Nashville offense.
