connect the dots.
the plan is that steven learns to scout goalies.
now i know why you couldn't make it as a prospect. hockey iq.
@evnted is terrific at scouting goalies. @Guadana has written some great stuff about Russian league goalies.

While I admit I'm good at some things, I'm really bad at other things, such as fly-fishing, commitment, surfing, remaining in any room where Mariah Carey is playing, and goalies.

Dont look now but Malek is off to a hot start in Liiga.

(last two seasons there for reference)

I seem to have a problem. I read Beckman was returned and now I see him listed as injured non roster in NJ. I know he will eventually get here ,but it looks like no until something happens to the Devils roster, like Pesce is put on it.

thoughts on him this season? seems to have very nice numbers this season
2.14 GAA and .912 SV%. Not too shabby.

Likely a Utica Comet next season if he can play like that over here.

There will be a log jam during preseason with Daws, Poulter, Malek, and Brennan all still in the picture.

Can Daws actually become NJ's #2? He hasn't been stealing any games for the Comets at this point. That is a BIG question.

Brennan hasn't done squat since he was signed.

Re-signing Allen for another season would really throw the mix into the blender.

Hopefully he’s with the organization next season.
That should be an imperative. It's either s**t or get off the pot for Daws. A guy like Malek can go right by him.

The key will be Allen. If the Devils hold to his 1-yr contract, either Daws wins the #2 spot or gets moved and a new acquisition comes in to back up Markstrom. They can't go with a guy they can't trust to to do the job.

That would leave Poulter and Malek in Utica to battle it out to see who gets the 1st call. That of course depends upon whether or not the Devils give Poulter another contract as he will be an RFA at the end of the season while Daws, Brennan, and Malek are signed through 2025-26. That could mean Malek and Daws would be in Utica. It would be a kick in the ass to free agent Poulter who has performed well for the Comets. Last season better than both Daws and Schmid.

Then 22-yr-old Brennan would be in his 3rd pro season with nothing but ECHL play behind him unless Utica needs to elevate a keeper from Adirondack. 28-yr-old Jeremy Brodeur is also in Adirondack and has been their top keeper through the past 2 seasons (counting this one). He is currently on a 1-way AHL contract with the Comets.

Right now Brennan is in Utica. If Daws is not ready by Saturday's game, I would think Brodeur would already have been reassigned to the Comets.

Between the lag on goalies and centers the organization has some real blind spots for how to draft.

That fact that we have no better options to replace Lazar other than Dowling is telling for sure. We've taken a bunch of goalies since Schneider and nothing either. It's certainly strange.
