Why would we ever do that?Put Dobes in the net against Red Wings. On April 8th 2025.
He's definitely a battler , that might be his single biggest trait IMO, he's been that way since his USHL days. He's an intense competitor, which can be both a good and a bad thing. He’s got a bit of Tim Thomas in him. Unorthodox, but battles 110% to stop that puck.
If Jakub's learning curve is anywhere near as spectacular as Monty's has been we will all come to realize how blessed we are with this diamond in the rough.he's always been a raw goalie. at Ohio State he was all athleticism, pretty sloppy. he's reigned it in over the years but still has some work to do to contain his game - rebound control, efficiency of movement - and you can tell he knows it. i think it was at the end of the 2nd period (maybe the 1st), he was shaking his head at himself for his lack of control on a last second save.
anyway, good win for him tonight. hope he gets another two games before the end of the season to give Montembeault some rest.
He's good. Very good.
Dobes, when he's on top of his game, he's better than Monty.
Considering how long it took MSL to realize Monty was more constant than Allen...playoffs aren't long enough for him to start using Dobes more than Monty.Hope for the Habs to make the playoffs (not a done deal yet) and Dobes Spring Afterwards![]()
